De Marco's first loss ?

a) Not necessarily - this guy will now have to be seen to be scrupulously fair.

(If you've ever watched 'The Thick of It' this could be a bit like when Malcolm Screws over Julius in the Steve Flemyng investigation.)

b) But it also could be.

On the one hand this is massive as it proves all the doubters wrong that Ashley and all involved are clearly still pushing for this to go through.

On the other, it sounds like we are fucked and there is far to many hurdles and corruption to overcome and it's going to be a waste of everyone's time. Especially as we're going to be relegated now anyway which means most likely it was all for nothing anyway :(

Does this mean the bloke who'll be overseeing arbitration is in the PL / Qatar / Liverpool's pocket? We've tried to have him removed but failed. Am I understanding this correctly?

How I read it too. Couldn't make it up

Arbitration hasn't happened yet it's not as bad as it looks like on the surface! A commitment to getting the takeover passed is significant as it shows all parties do want it through they are at the table if a pathway is cleared, so no "fakeover" talk or whatever. But it is a minor setback - though the hearing stage might be imminent if they've had to settle on all the details before? Though if it isn't out publicly we won't hear until a decision I guess next

All Saudi has to do is reinstate BeIN and we can all get on with our lives

It sounds like more preparation for the arbitration than some kind of killer blow.

Arbitration being headed up by someone who basically works hand in hand with the premier league? It's maybe not the killer blow but the knife is pretty deep right now.

And settle a couple of massive court cases. And pay a shed load of compensation. Otherwise, yay.

No, but he effectively advised the PL on the O&D rules which are now being disputed by NUFC, the club presumably arguing that he would not be objective in a case where the club is disputing the appropriateness of those tests.

We do now know for sure what was reported at the time. PL argue that KSA ultimately controls PIF, KSA has been involved in piracy and therefore KSA and PIF fail the O&D test (this if putting to one side another unfortunate incident in Istanbul).

So basically we wanted the chairman of the arbitration panel removed which has been denied. They do however have to release the findings in public although the key personnel will be kept anonymous, so shouldn’t be any shenanigans.

I still don’t see how we can win here if it’s all down to the director issue

also good that the EPL cant hide it all, so the whole thing will have to be aired out, and they cant just bury it, hopefully that also will help with the fairness required.

This still on then?

"The Saudi takeover of NUFC no longer exists as a going concern. Ashley is pursuing damages on the grounds of restraint of trade. No-one should give a shit whether he gets what he wants on that front."

IMTTS said no. Think this statement proves he is, as suspected, full of shit.

However Mike Ashley tells SSN he is “fighting tooth & nail & wants to give NUFC fans what they deserve.”

Yet refuses to sack Bruce, the tit.

Quote from the Premier League:

As Newcastle United are no longer a member of the Premier League we see no reason to continue with these tests
