Pre-match “There’s no easy games in pre-season, we have to go to Rotherham and try and get something out of the game.”

Post-match “We knew we were in for a game and they showed why they’re such a tough side to beat. Some of our lads are still getting back up to speed. The 2-0 loss will have woken some of them up, that’s for sure”

Everything about us is amateur beyond belief. Didn’t think I could be upset by a pre-season fixture list, but Ashley’s tenure knows no boundaries.

It’s probably Bruce going through each club’s menu to see which ones offer the cheapest bacon sarnies

Harrogate is quite affluent, isn't it? So I reckon they'd be a higher calibre, more expensive sandwich, followed closely by York. Rotherham would be fairly cheap based on having never been there or knowing anything about the place other than the Chuckle Brothers. Burton would be helped/hindered by the constant brewery smell so the cost could go either way.

It is but a year ago they were a non-league club and not long before that, even further down the pyramid.

Playing Norwich at home, In a pre-season friendly...

Not a tournament, just a friendly. Seems strange to play another PL team in a pre-season friendly.

A fair few teams are doing it, like Spurs are playing Arsenal in a friendly. Clubs just can't really travel for tours etc due to COVID, and if they want competitive friendlies the only option is other Prem teams.

TBF to Ashley, a top class training facility would be wasted on Bruce. It's a bit like giving a chimpanzee a PlayStation, he would just bite it a bit then shit all over it.
