Next 24 hours now!

"The Premier League has now been provided with written assurances that the Saudi state will not interfere with the running of the club and that only the PIF will be involved in Newcastle operations along with minority shareholders. Any breach of that undertaking could lead to directors being suspended."

If this is the case, it's an absolute farce that this hasn't been done eons ago. It also doesn't get KSA outside of the definition of "Director" but if the PL's willing to buy it, more power to them.

Looks like it was all down to the piracy issue if that's the case.

Could KSA or whoever actually just agree to be a "director" now or is that a big no-no?

They may have not wanted to before as they knew the BeIn privacy case was an issue but do they have any objections otherwise? Why would they care?

As a director it would have to submit a declaration about a whole laundry list of things specified under the rules -- a lot of we haven't done this, we have done that, this is true, that isn't, etc. -- and it would have to comply with PL rules. As a sovereign nation, it's generally not going to want to do that sort of thing.

Meanwhile the almost certainly reality is " We'll offer you 299m" MA replies "I want 300m" PIF " Okay then, but if the club gets relegated because well you know Steve Bruce, you pay us back a 150m" MA replies and yes you've guessed it "Deals off"

Yeah, and if so, then an extra hearty "Fuck you" to the PL, because it's basically just confirming "yup we're corrupt as fuck". (But also we'll still take the takeover, though. )

There is some fairly credible looking evidence on the Aviation thread that Staveley and Reuben are catching a plane together tomorrow.

I just updated the thread, there's a big ass Bombardier private jet on the tarmac at Oxford Airport right now.
