Been handed a gift with Ritchie and Lascelles being suspended. Fraser was dog shit today, invisible going forward and nowhere defensively. Miggy should start for this, his cameo was one of few bright spots. Absolutely bricking it for this game though.

Will be surprised if Howe makes drastic changes. He'll probably start the ones who have already played so far in the past 2 games. Will be Almiron and Murphy for Ritchie and Fraser. Clarke back in for Lascelles. Just don't see him suddenly going for Lewis and Fernandez unfortunately.

This would be my line up aswell, but fear Clark, Krath and Fraser will start.

That's the players I would go with, would swap ASM and Joelinton but it has to be this

But Clark will come in and Fraser will start as well I reckon

Jamal Lewis would be defensively exposed in a crowded lift. Lets not all forget how bloody rubbish Lewis is as well. He played nearly every game for Norwich in a season they went down, a whole season that they were an open shit show in defence. Never understood the thinking he is actually any good.

Lewis poses same potential to let us down as much Ritchie does, what probably Howe sees in Ritchie, and what Rafa did when playing him at LWB years ago is his ability and willingness to cross, and play forward. Aye, Lewis can run around a bit faster - but he's just as shite.

That's incredibly harsh imo. Since he's signed he's only made 25 appearances, all under Bruce. At Norwich he was seen as one of their batch of good young players along with Buendia, Cantwell, Aarons and Godfrey. Liverpool were strongly linked at the time we signed him. All 4 played huge chunks of their relegation season in 19-20, if that's a barometer for some reason.

Lewis is one of those who has massively suffered from the quality of coaching under the Steves. There was an article in the Athletic back in late July or early August about him and a quote from it that stuck in my mind which underpinned how much players like him suffered under Bruce was 'there was feeling at the club that Lewis would've benefitted from 1v1 defending drills in training but his education regarding 1v1s came during matches'. That is fucking appalling, especially given that it was an area of his game that needed massive improvement.

There's still a player in there imo. He's 23, and has had the tutelage of Steve Bruce to cope with. But he needs gametime as he won't get any better sitting on the bench. And given how useless we've been defensively and things coming down Ritchie's side he cannot be any worse, and he'll only improve now that he'll actually get decent coaching under Howe and his backroom team.

But he's still crap though. No other PL side would swap their LB for Jamal Lewis... Comparing Matt Ricthie and Jamal Lewis is like having a deep-mirror talk discussing flavors notes on your last two pisses. Whatever is said, both are piss.

Responding to highlighted - being a player that played a whole season playing in a defence that couldn't defend has to stand testament to the player. Max Aarons is still at Nowich - Bayern yet to buy him? Godfrey who played CB in a defence that couldn't defend was instantly was played at RB by Ancelotti, and hasn't really done much since.

Since playing for Newcastle he hasn't once shown me he can defend, many times per game he's thrown around like a rag doll - dominated physically; quite honestly he seems afraid and scared. Never has he worn a Newcastle United shirt and 'won his battle' against the opposing player.

He's 23, a regular International for NI as much as Dubravka is for Slovakia - the notion that he's young is redundant.

He's a £13M Shane Ferguson.
