Realistic Transfer Targets (2023/24)

Or he just gets moved deeper to make way for that player? Maybe in a two-man pivot with Bruno, so we can add a #10 or even a second striker?

(Thought he did pretty fucking well for the Fraser goal, which was far from his own half. But admit that he’s more of a jigsaw man than Clarky ever was.)

Maybe, but again, if that’s the specialist type of player we are going to play, we can do better still and I feel Howe wants more diverse players who can do a bit of both or a bit more or a bit of everything. If Joelinton could finish, we’d be mid-table right now and he’d be one of the best midfielders in the game. Sadly that’s not the case, he has done extremely well to become this alternative consistent performer in the anchor role, but for me he’s extremely limited still, when he went off against Leeds we were far more fluent for example on the ball.

If you’re looking for a player that has Joelinton’s current defensive output, which is league-leading in multiple areas, AND that scores plenty at the same time, I fear you’ll be looking a while! (Or be at least £50M lighter by the end of your search, which might well be feasible!)

Not saying anything about his general on-field presence or attitude here, either, he’s epitomised Howe’s reign so far.

Oh aye, he’s becoming very good at what he does, but lately he has to and we need that, I think with Bruno especially in the team the necessity of what he brings/gives won’t be as needed much, hopefully anyway. He will be a great squad player, though!

Nice comments from Ben Foster saying St James’ park is his favourite stadium to play.

Giggs said the same!

Fraser goal vs Everton? Didn't he just carry the ball 5 yards and pass it 5 yards to his left?

Generally, Joelinton doesn't do enough with the ball when he wins it. He doesn't carry it far enough, his passing range is limited and he's having trouble shooting. Maybe he'll come good but he has an awful lot to work on.

GK: Henderson - £40m

CB: Diego Carlos - £30m

CB: Botman - £40m

LB: Bakker - £20m

CM: Bissouma - £50m

RW: Lingard - FREE

ST: Zapata - £30m

That's £210m for those players for a team which although I think is much better than us right now, would struggle to break into the top 6 but finish comfortably in the top 10.

However, I think we could get a top 10 finish for a fraction of the cost:

GK: Navas - Loan

CB: Dan Axel-Zagadou- FREE

CB: Kamara - FREE

LB: Kostic - £8.5m

CM: Grillitsch - FREE

RW: Lingard - FREE

ST: These are always expensive but Gouiri/ Schlick/ Andre Silva - all 15+ goal strikers for around £50m. Alternatively, Broja for around £40m or on loan

There are out of the box options too like Charles De Ketelaere (£30m) as a Striker from Bruges or Kamaldeen Suleman as a winger from Rennes - Raphinha's replacement, quicker than ASM, good dribbler and two footed, a little raw but only 19.

I'll reserve judgement until the summer (pending we stay up) but apparently January was the B-List so would love if the A-List had names like Nkunku and Schick on it :smitten:

Great post apart from that first line. Watch it again. Not sure anyone else in our colours would’ve been that decisive in that zone. What he did wasn’t easy, though he perhaps made it look like it was.

Tielemans has rejected a new deal at Leicester… I like him, technical, vastly experienced, has a goal in him, but I do feel he’s very one paced and is one of those players that needs to be fitted into a certain set up to excel, rather than the other way round. Thoughts?

Ngl, just watched it and the only extra thing he did was let it roll across him a couple of yards. It was decent but I don't think it was anything special. The last time I saw him do something really good creatively was against Man Utd (1-1) where he carried the ball deep into the Man Utd half before playing a through ball to Fraser.

I like Joelinton and hope he continues to improve, I feel a goal would do his confidence wonders.

Would be a great signing, however I’m sure he already has a new club lined up.

If Joe added goals to everything else he's doing he'd be looking a lot more like a £40millioner. Despite his utter hopelessness in the box, you can still tell he's naturally an attacker. For all his great work when we're off the ball, he'll still get himself into positions when we're around the box. I'd keep him as an 8 rather than a 6 in the hope he can somehow rectify those daft moments in front of goal.

Saw Tielemans linked today. That would be amazing and daresay realistic if we stay up. Players like Sarr at Watford and maybe Raphinha from Leeds would also be possible. If we stay up, this Summer will be very exciting indeed.

Is Kane realistic? He will be leaving in the summer. Definitely won't be worth as much (£130m) as he was last year. Would he potentially turn down the Manchester clubs to come here? I know he wants trophies but he's probably only guaranteed a trophy if he goes to Man City and they may not even want him anymore.

No. Kane isn’t realistic imo.
