Just re-watching the cup final. Fuck me, what a performance this bloke put in.

Thank god he didn’t have to go off injured.

I can't think of a better performance from a Newcastle player in my time supporting us tbh. The nearest rivals are probably Burn, Joelinton, Livramento in the very same match.

Trippier fouls Diaz at one point and that's literally the only foot he puts wrong, either side of that everything he does is absolutely immaculate.

Urgh his face.

Actually looks anguished in the thumbnail  like the face of a World's Strongest Man contender with straight arms parallel to the ground, just about to drop a couple of massive bells or axes. Like he needs libpewl to rescue him from his appalling situation. The fucking wanker

What was his reaction when he took the corner in the 2nd half and the fans were singing “shags who he wants”?  From the middle of Gallowgate he didn’t look happy at all, his body language appeared to change.

His passing radar has been off this season, mind, but he had been ridiculously accurate for most of his time prior to that. Mad he’s still this good at his age, given he’s never been the most athletic and wingers/the league has only gotten more speed/power based as the years have gone on. Just an absolutely class footballer. Shame about that chant, though. Mind, it’s not a lie.

I absolutely adore this bloke, one of my favourite Newcastle players of all time. It's gone a bit under the radar that, at 35 and after all his up and downs, he's delivering performances that aren't a million miles off his best across 2023.

Shout out for finding the exact cubic centimetre to enable Burn to connect and bend that header in. Immaculate cross.

Sounds like he has shaggers remorse.

His passing and offensive play in general (energy, pace etc) has declined. However I'm often surprised at his defensive actions this season. He uses his experience to read how the wingers will try to go past him. Compensates for the lack of pace with intelligence. This part of the game actually looks improved, but maybe that's just becuase he doesn't have he responsibility of being everywhere anymore, and rather be more focused on defending.

We just take his performances for granted now

On his sick bed 3 days ago. Thought he was superb tonight against their most dangerous player

Yep, said similar in the match thread. Was trying to create and make things happen going forward.  But he also did really well up one v one against their number 7 and seemed to relish the challenge.

He was my MOTM.

At his worst today. Not for the goal conceding ricks like the 23/24 season, but the sloppy passing and crossing at every point. So many times he put us into trouble or wasted it. Feels very much like this season will be the last as he’s too expensive to be the new Krafth.
