Kieran Trippier (now playing for Wolves)

Recommended Posts

Potentially he goes to Monaco or a Saudi club in January - I could see Ross Wilson being a bit more ruthless given he can opt to go on a free end of the season or we extend and he gets a pay cut from £120k a week. We either bring in another RB as Krafth is attracting interest from Denmark or other option is Leo Shahar as understudy to Tino.

Seems to love nothing more than refusing to pass the ball over the top to a winger in behind when it's on, and then holding his hand up in apology. Lost count of how many times I've seen him do this now.

The threat in behind now comes from the wingers, and so if the midfield is congested or we're struggling to play through those areas, that ball over the top has to be played.

Him and Burn never play those passes or do a terrible job of it. On top of all the other issues they are causing by not being able to carry the ball.

Was so bad today.

Post-match Eddie said he had a hamstring problem in training on Friday.

Sounds like it’ll be 2-3 weeks out at best.

Oof. Heard ‘minor’ hamstring strain from the commentators and thought it might just be a game or two. Can’t be playing Tino for 90 mins every week. He’ll be fucked by the new year.

Tbf, he did say something along the lines they were waiting for ‘clarity’ on it, so nothing confirmed yet, but it did sound like he was expecting a bit of absence.

This fella might be winding down the years and he probably should not be a starter in games, but we were dearly lacking his leadership skills, game management and a bit of his shithousery in such a hostile atmosphere.

Sure, we may have had Bruno, Gordon or even Joelinton from the bench. But they are walking red cards waiting to happen when being too hyped up. Tripps would have managed his team mates better.

Just my opinion.

We have major problems if we are still needing to rely on Trippier tbf.

It’s a fair point, but if there was ever a game where Trippier would have been a major asset it is yesterday. This is even more the case given Tino, who found lots of good space at times, looked off his usual reliably with the ball. Some poor passes and choices in general and a relative absence of his attacking runs with the ball.

Yeah lacking Trippier’s leadership is the reason the front 3 were shit. It’s just nonsense.

Well, it would be if that was the direct inference. Or even if forwards just independently play well regardless of what’s happening elsewhere in the team.

It was a game for experienced heads. Keeping hold of the ball and making better decisions across the pitch might have produced more opportunities for the front three and for everyone else.

Every team needs natural leaders and Trippier is one of the few we have…

as much as I admire Bruno’s enthusiasm I don’t believe he’s the player to grab the team by the scruff of the neck or alternatively compose and motivate players with words and advice…

problem is we don’t have other leaders throughout the the team who can do the job…

we don’t have vocal keepers, we’ve young full backs, steady centre halves, and attacking players who seem to go missing… Tonali is having a dip in form and big Joe is obviously carrying injuries… not a great amount of leadership to call on…

Hes a cool head with tricks up his sleeve to frustrate opposition however the marauding runs with miggy a few years ago have long since passed too many back passes and rightly in some instances risk averse tactics.

Love the bloke for the symbol of the new era he brought and his contribution but Tino needs competition if he stays and trips isnt that anymore.

Neither cross the ball which is half the problem

Tino in the final 3rd infuriates me - I mean what happened to the Tino that we saw at Southampton - he was a constant threat in the attacking half

As basic as it sounds, I don't think I've ever seen Tino kick the ball hard. He never puts his foot through the thing seemingly whether that's shooting or crossing. Even the 1 goal he scored for us was him dribbling past a couple players then falling over the ball as it went into the net. Him passing the ball square to Bruno in the seconds before the final whistle instead of getting it in the box on Sunday sums that part of his game up. Doesn't offer enough going forward, certainly not as much as Hall does. His defensive contribution arguably balances that out but aside from Man City at home, since he's come back from injury he's been poor imo.
