I must admit I've changed my mind on him a couple of times this season. Initially I thought he was fine as a back up, but recently he's been exposed for pace and I thought he was done. But the last couple of games he's used his positioning to negate any physical deficiencies, and his football and leadership have been outstanding. Howe proven right again.

When he was reportedly on the piss from various places I thought he was done then, you cannot be carrying on like that at his age.Hope that chapter is over with. Like you say his awareness is making up for his decline in pace, but there is certainly nothing wrong with his stamina and resilience

He's such a good footballer going forward, even for the daft things like picking the ball up and taking throw ins quickly before the opposition has time to regroup. He's going to get done for pace now and then, but he still brings a lot going the other way.

Wish he'd get his head up and play runners in poor Murphy Elanga osula etc are making great runs only to be ignored. Other than that he's been a lot better in the last few games defensively.

Mad thing is at his peak powers he was arguably the best all around fullback in Europe- not much was between him and Hakimi that 12 month period before it came down on him. Love the fella, such a properly good leader on the pitch. It does hurt seeing crosses, free kicks, or sometimes those really intelligent balls not come off anymore.

Hope he gets a rest vs Qarabag. I’m sure Shahar could come in to play a team that’s likely league 1 level

Unlikely as Howe name checked him, as one of ours to watch in his pre match presser (and joked that he wasn’t giving anything away as he was out only fit right back). Also mentioned Tonali.

150 apps for us. Quality. Thought it would be lower for some reason.

Surprised to see he has more apps for us than Spurs, too. Always thought he’d played most games for them. Not Burnley.

You can blame injuries or the recruitment for not having the right squad depth but Trippier at 35 is playing every game in the world's elite competitions without a rest and I'm struggling to pin any blame on him if he's at fault for any goals. He never stops leading or shy away from a challenge and although we all know this will probably be his final hurrah, he's carrying himself superbly as he always has done on the pitch. Hope Shahar gets a game on Tuesday to give him a rest but I doubt he will

One of our best signings and best blokes we've seen and I really hope he gets to go out with all his dignity in tact

Surely he gets rested midweek, idiotic otherwise

Weird how some still see him as some kind of ultimate pro/leader when he's a bloke in his mid 30s with a couple of kids acting like a daft cunt

what’s he done?

How's he acting like a daft cunt?

He's single and he's gone out with a lass.  What a nutter!

Just because the papers have decided this is newsworthy doesn’t make it bad!

Not just this is it. Every other weekend he's out drinking trying to pull.lasses half his age. If it was me pal and he had 2 kids I'd be telling him to get a grip of his life
