Kieran Trippier (now playing for Wolves)

Been excellent in those first few seasons, just not at the level for premier League now or certainly not in this team. Wouldn't be surprised to see him end up in America or maybe at a championship club next year.

The catalyst, in that window we were getting pied off and laughed out the room by mediocre players, but he backed his own abilities, believed in Eddie and the club and will go down as the most pivotal signing we've ever made. A colossus on the pitch and role model in the dressing room, he'll go down as a legend. Father time as caught up with him and now is a good time to ride off into the sunset, but it's been a pleasure having him round here.

Cant think of many signings that have been as transformation for us as he was, hope he goes to Saudi now and they pay him truck loads of cash before he retirws and comes back as a coach

This. I believe he’s been our most important signing since the takeover. He was brilliant in those first few years. I was happy to see him have a great game in the final and to lift the cup, he deserved it so much.

Will go down as a legend for me, easily the best right back we’ve had in my 40+ years on this planet.

Absolutely love the guy and is - by an absolute landslide - the best RB in my lifetime; also in the conversation for best defender.

Can only repeat what everyone else is saying and we've all been saying for years.

Legend. Incredible footballer and leader. One of the best players and became easily the best RB I'd ever seen in my 35 odd years of supporting the club within about 5 games of joining. Nothing but love for him as a footballer and for what he did for us as a player and captain.

The man has a handful of 10/10 matches for us, which would be rare on its own, but one of them being a cup final during a time when he wasn't anywhere near his peak was just incredible. Not only was it a 10/10 but it was possibly the nearest I've ever seen to a flawless performance. He fouled Diaz once in the first half and the ball hit his hand, beyond that everything else he did in the match was perfect.

Time is a bastard, what we'd all give for him to be even 3 years younger.

So glad he played for us. Will always doff my cap to him for taking a gamble on a relegation bound NUFC and then having such a massive impact once he was here.

A very high quality footballer and an outstanding leader.

Sad day, but expected. Will go down as my favorite ever player for us. The standards that he brought as well as moments like giving Miley the armband.

It was such an exciting time when he first arrived. You were scratching your eyes watching players of his and Bruno's quality after years of middling to shite in almost every position. The elevation in quality was so stark.

Sad  One of the most transformative signings in the history of the club

For all of the great moments he brought us on the pitch, I'm not sure anything sums him up more than making sure Lascelles was part of the trophy lift at Wembley.

Top bloke, amazing signing, and the start of it all, really, on the playing side.

That photo BDB posted of the huge Newcastle group in the England squad - think of how it was just this man when he signed for us. No doubt would have helped many to get to that step.

Very much reminded me of Keegans first signing when he brought in Kilkline… get a leader in straight away and build from there… Tripps was quality though.. a great player..

Brought back hope to the club and really made us believe from him signing from day 1. Easily in my all time NUFC XI after supporting them for nearly 30 years based on his ability and leadership. Literally changed the mentality on the club and one of the best signings ever. Thank you for everything Tripps!

Transformative leader for us.

The celebration after his free kick v Everton sticks with me, after all the apathy and players not giving a fuck for years it was a real turning point for me and made me realise we were back.

Then as it kept getting traction.

That January was a revolution like, relegation to Champions League candidates more or less overnight.
