It was such an exciting time when he first arrived. You were scratching your eyes watching players of his and Bruno's quality after years of middling to shite in almost every position. The elevation in quality was so stark.

I was at the Cambridge cup defeat, it was my little boy’s first game actually. Despite the result I have fond memories of the day, notably due to how good he looked. Even compared to our own players he appeared to be playing a completely different sport.

At this stage of your career you'd probably take a pay cut to play for Juve just for the experience.

What a way to end a great career.

Not often I'm sad to see the back of a player who is past his best days, but Tripps has been one of the best professionals I've seen wearing the shirt. If he makes a mistake he's visibly furious with himself and as we saw with his spat with Gordon, he's not afraid to show who's boss.

Been the best leader we've had in a long time.

Not sure about that, he played a huge part in us staying up, even while injured, and our CL qualification the season after, and I'm grateful for that, but there have been long periods where his personal issues have clearly affected him on the pitch and also seemed to affect the rest of the team... particularly after the alleged Vermont stuff.

Over the last couple of years we've lost both Ritchie and Wilson from the leadership group. When you add Trippier and Tonali to the departure lounge along with Schar and Krafth who are both experienced pro's/internationals, we have to have an eye on the characters we sign this summer.

Not one of those signed last summer has any leadership qualities. When you then allow for Burn playing a whole lot less next year and probably Joelinton too, we're looking seriously devoid of testicles at this stage...

Going from Lascelles to Murphy in that group as well...

Nothing but respect for Trippier to be fair. I am sure he loads of choices but came to us in a dire position (I am sure the salary was good). Being a good captain and leader.

If the Juve thing is true it probably extends his career at the top for another season the slower pace will suit him.

Losing Lascelles and Tripps and Joelinton's powers waining. Very difficult job replacing that leadership and upholding of standards.

Aside from their quality, i think last summer's recruitment has also made the first XI and wider squad much weaker mentally and physically.

Tbf I thought he was finished here after that spell, but he picked himself up and came back. I really like him as a player even now. Doesn't take defeat well and is fast thinking and vocal on the pitch.

Had the pleasure of hosting an event with him and another of the WFs lads at the RVI with some terminally ill kids and Kieran was absolutely excellent with all of them. Really went up a level in my estimation of him which was already sky high. Without a doubt the best RB I've seen in my lifetime at Newcastle United and one of the best captains/leaders too. For all his alleged shagging about, which is his own business and his own (possible) downfall, on a professional level and human level with those kids he has been nothing but absolutely top drawer. He had time for every single one of them and wasn't allowing himself to be rushed. Class. Would have meant so much to those kids.

No disrespect to Trippier but it shows how far the club has regressed if the club is seriously considering appointing Trippier as manager.
