One of the greatest impact signings in the clubs history imo. Well deserved.

And how often can anyone say that about a Right Back?

Surely one the best signings off all time in the PL when considering the fee payed.

He will always be considered the player that started it all, a special player with a special title.

Fantastic again tonight. He's so good at understanding where his defensive weakness in a certain situation lies and moves to change the situation to his advantage. He's always thinking 2/3 moves ahead as well but generally wont sacrifice defensive solidity for it. The amount of times he dispossesses someone or wins a 50/50, finds an out ball even after maybe moving it a bit, gets in a position to receive it again and then play it forward is insane.

Gutted he's not 27.

tbh I think he's a better player now than he was then.  Personally I think he's the right player at the right time - just a total leader.

He was fucking incredible last night. Towards the end of the match you could see the leadership and his calm; despite Schar bricking it  -- Trips bloody became a deep lying playmaker turned sweeper at one point clearing the lines at LB.

I still can't believe we've got him; his attacking drive is elite. Fantastic footballer.

One of the most deserving of our fantastic group of players to be rewarded with CL football. He was the first to trust the new owners and leave what was undoubtedly a brilliant life in Spain (even though he's said he wanted to return to the UK) and has been utterly fantastic from day 1. Love the thought of him leading us out next year in that competition, elite leader and hope he's around the club long after he's done playing.
