Hugo Ekitike (not playing for Liverpool for a while)

Read what I said again - the bluff has nothing to do with signing or not signing, that's just what you picked up from what I said. The bluff is about who they actually want. They keep telling adding the caveat over and over again that they'll only go for Ekitike if the door on Isak stays shut, as if to try and tempt Newcastle into it - but because of the way they're going on we already know that Liverpool don't really want Ekitike.

This arguement makes no sense though. If im following your logic and please do correct me if I'm wrong here but it's like saying we didn't want Elanga because he wasn't our first choice.

Another example is if we bought Delap do you reckon we would have been in for Hugo? That means we don't actually want Hugo right?

I think what Liverpool have tried to do is create leverage where it doesn't really exist to try and both steal a march on the rest of Isaks suitors and to attempt to lower the price.

I do believe Liverpool would prefer Isak I think that's evident but I don't think that means they don't want Ekitike. But ultimately who doesn't want the primary target over the secondary one.

Definitely disappointed as I would have loved Ekitike here but if it takes Liverpool out of the Isak market for this and next summer it will be great for us.

Guess the question will be whether they would be looking at Ekitike as someone who can play with Isak, rather than just as the alternative to him. We clearly have designs on pairing them up, so Liverpool potentially could too.

That would definitely suck

I thought about this and thought the only realistic way they have of selling the idea to Ekitike that they’re waiting on organising his transfer without making it look hideous to Ekitike is by framing it as Isak and him playing together for Liverpool. Fucking chumps aren’t getting Isak though so the joke is on them

At the end of all this, we've still signed 1 player but lost 2 (Wilson and Longstaff) not to mention Miggy and Kelly leaving. Add to that more games due to champions league games, pardon me for getting slightly concerned now.

Absolutely HUGE 6 weeks for us now before the window shuts.

You're not allowed to be concerned till the window shuts. I have been informed of this repeatedly by members of the forum.

As someone who isn't a happy clapper what are we concerned about at present?

My only concern is keeping Isak I'm sure we will get more players in and we clearly have some spends.

I asked Copilot where Ekitike will go and the response seems as sensible as any other, time to move on I think, it just seems like too much money for one position.

As of now, Liverpool appear to be the frontrunners to sign Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt:

🔴 Liverpool
They are advancing in direct talks with Frankfurt, according to Fabrizio Romano 1.
Ekitike is said to prefer a move to Liverpool over other suitors.
Liverpool initially targeted Alexander Isak, but after Newcastle refused to negotiate, they shifted focus to Ekitike 1.
Manchester United
Still considered “in the mix” but have not made a formal offer yet.
Their interest remains, but financial constraints and Frankfurt’s €100 million valuation are hurdles 2.
Newcastle United
Recently had a bid rejected and have not followed up with a new one.
Their pursuit has cooled, and they are now behind Liverpool in the race 1.
Frankfurt are holding firm on a €100 million price tag, and while they’re not desperate to sell, they do expect offers to come in before the window closes 2.

That's pure speculation though? One thing we all know is that clearly nobody knows anything about what's actually happening behind the seasons, yet a bunch of posters on here have decided to jump on the pushed narrative that Liverpool are making some play/bluff etc and ran with it to berate how they operate, but really they may've just had Isak as #1 target, know it's unlikely, thought they'd enquire and make sure on that before spending 80m+ on an unknown quantity which means Isak is no longer an option for them. I see absolutely nothing wrong with that? Just happens we are intertwined in it all.

Fucking hell man, some deep thinkers this Liverpool lot

Every update is the same.

‘Considering an approach’

’Readying an offer’

’Verbally been in contact. No offer yet’

Taking their sweet fucking time  wasn’t it Monday this all started.

Do they call up and say they’re definitely, definitely going to make an offer soon. Then get in touch with their paid journos to tell them this

Good - glad we aren't being messed around by these dirty tactics.

Aye, don't let it drag on like last season, end it and move on.

You're allowed to worry all you want though.

But not sure what the benefit is of continuing to post about how worried you are.

Why not just log off and check back in at the end of the window if it's all unsettling you so much?

I didn't know Burkardt had completed the move, no wonder they're keen to get as much as possible for Ekitike.

There's still plenty out there mind.

I do actually like the look of Woltamede, goofy but skillful.

Frankfurt are excellent on transfer market, signed Burkardt early on.

One is common with these (Beier, Woltemade, Burkardt) is that all of them are missing that edge to be best attacker in the world. I do hope I’m wrong (as Germany and BVB fan) but Woltemade is nowhere near €100m valuation, would have already signed for Bayern with lower valuation.

Both Werner and Sane did look really good younger,I remember watching Sane in U21 Euros back in the days. I do hope this new generation is able to become actually really good players.

It's genuinely starting to look like weve been flushing them out to protect our interests.

It would make sense why they've reacted so emotionally.

If it was more 'Liverpool have moved onto Ekitike after it was made clear that Isak isn't available' that would be another matter because it would be a simple matter of them moving on to another player they rate highly - but every single brief on this mentions that they want Isak, don't really want Ekitike, and that part of the motivation for doing it is to cockblock us.

Elanga was our first choice for RW, it's ironically Ekitike who's our 3rd or 4th choice after Delap, Pedro etc presumably because of the fee involved.

It would be more like if we opened talks with Brighton for Pedro while Delap was still at Ipswich available and were briefing the media that we would only go for Pedro if Ipswich changed their stance, but that - actually - we don't really want Pedro. It's all about how these things are presented and when. The whole Isak/Ekitike thing isn't a simple 'target 1 not available move onto target 2' situation at all.
