It's not a sexy name, but seems like the perfect alternative once we failed to get our first choice defenders in. I haven't seen him much myself, but from all accounts seems like a big solid defender, so as long as he's not chronically slow, should do the job in keeping us up.

Pretty sure he’s only played on the left side of a 3.

Sure he played left-back in a four for them under Hughton. Left of a back three under Potter.

Howe's played 3 at the back once here and gone to a 4 every time since. I don't get why people are constantly suggesting we're about to go to a 5/3

He's an improvement on what we've got but a downgrade on what we were expecting. In isolation it's a decent transfer, given the value and the current state of our options.

Not arsed at all if it means we can get the wing backs to bomb on properly. Sould make us a lot more effective offensively.

They played Lamptey - Webster - Dunk - Burn as their back four. When Dunk got injured they moved Burn into the centre.

So yeah, probably more left back than wing back, even though Lamptey probably ended up as a winger most of the time.

He played CB in a back four last time out against Leicester with Webster.
