Have you seen the state of Royal Mail? You’d be lucky to get them the same calendar month let alone in 3 days!

Then everyone will claim that the tickets never turned up, or they are on holiday and left before they did.

You’ll have thousands of people queueing before every match for replacement tickets. Trying to serve them all at the same time ahead of KO will end up with box office staff starting to overlook the ID checks to speed up the service.

Howay man Stiffy, that wouldn’t happen. Check yasel before ya wreck yasel. It’s only a few seasons since we last had paper tickets and it was absolutely fine then

In fact it was much quicker to get into the ground than since we got the digital tickets

Also interesting that the average age of a match going Chelsea fan is 59

Literally every club complains about them doing it.

Additionally they are also always in the news for rushing the gates at every final they have played since 2005.

After the events at Hillsborough they still risk overcrowding and put their own fans at risk by doing so.

(not really membership, but seems the closest active thread to the topic)

For future reference, the work around this is to call the box office and they can enter you in the ballot.

Shitshow, regardless.

Great effort. I’ve never won one (though only applied for about 8 in last couple of seasons). Last four times at SJP have had to (chosen to) pay through nose for corporate or dodgy tickets.
I was amazed to read you got a cup final ticket. First person I have heard of who got one this way. So lucky man!

Emailed Supporter Services to ask if they had any advice given I’ve entered 33 ballots since Aug 24 and only won one (FUCKING BRADFORD)

They just just replied with this:

I got a Cup Final ticket last season through my membership and when I went on the site to choose my seat there were still quite a few available so plenty of us members managed to get Cup Final tickets.

I still say if you really, really want to get in you more than likely will. It requires some serious effort, bizarrely there's a few tickets regularly seem to pop up in the early hours of the morning for example so sometimes going on the site at those times works. Since the ballots started up there's only been 1 match that I've been unable to source a ticket for (Liverpool this season) and had to resort to a 3rd party selling site to get in.

Do you think the bizarre timings tickets appear are linked with re-sellers returning back to club from foreign shores/time zones?

Not sure it is just effort, trust me I really wanted a cup final ticket (and nearly paid a silly amount of money for one—more for one ticket than I paid for two   vs Man Utd) and tried everything I thought might work to get a more affordable one (or two).
I wonder whether there’s an advantage of having a Tyneside postcode in the ballot? The tickets for Sunderland at home were showing as available (Shearer’s bar) but I couldn’t buy one via the site. Rang them and emailed. Surprisingly they got back and took payment over the phone. Said (which seems ridiculous) that because I didn’t have a (I quote) ‘North Eastern postcode’ my purchase was blocked. Not like there aren’t any Makems living in Tyneside.

While that’s true, you do need to dedicate a significant amount of time and effort to get those resale tickets.

Wouldn’t like to think how much time I spend per season on the NUFC website, must be 1-2 hours per fixture.

Thats not as long as I expected TBH. Assumed people are F5’ing most of the day especially the days leading up to game. Was expecting you saying 20-30hrs TBH.

What would others says their hourly F5 total is per game?

Well opening the site and refreshing it doesn’t add up to much. You might do hundreds of refreshes over the week but the time for each is measured in seconds.

It’s on your mind every time you have a free second to get your phone out, but I wouldn’t imagine the actual screen time is too many hours.

Most time goes into the 10am sales for me, refreshing is just the final backup option.

It is absolutely not worth that much of your time.

It’s down to the individual. The TV scenarios have changed things over the years.

We are spoilt that you can usually find any game. Peak was when the pubs showed them also as you got the communal atmosphere also. Still can’t beat being at the game. Especially when I find the home games having more often than not better atmospheres than the aways these days.

It's just a bit sad to be sitting on the sofa watching it when I could be heading up to SJP. I feel like it's worth it at the moment, although months with 3 home games are sometimes a slog (and expensive).

I mean, 'worth it' is maybe the wrong way to think about it, it's just what you have to do if you want to go to a match and don't have a ST.

I'm also lucky I work at a desk and don't have anyone checking how often I'm refreshing the NUFC website.

Hard to word this correctly, but I'll try

Getting tickets (when needed) has never been an issue for me, old systm/new system whatever, and thats mainly down to now WFH 90% of the time so I can afford to set time aside to manipulate the Q

It was part of the fun initially, but, since going to the Cup Final I'm feeling less and less bothered about the hassle, and to be honest, I've not really enjoyed the games I've been to since then, including Barca etc

I know, I'm a weirdo, and it's probably not the right thread
