The clubs claimed success percentage is bollocks.

Ah OK. Maybe, but even if the estimated percentage is right you could easily go through a season without winning one. The sample size isn’t big enough for the percentages to play out in a reliable way.

I've had 2 successes from 28 attempts, so that's 7% for me. Incidentally both successes were Carabao Cup

Probably a bit the wrong side of the luck line. 3 and you’re about average, 4 and you’re overachieving.

That’s probably pretty close to being bang on average, as depressing as that is for balloters of every game.

Yeah, I apply for every game and have 5 successes this season. Still feels demoralising!

Another ballot failure which is surprising as according to the club my wife was pretty much guaranteed one this time according to their success percentages - does anyone think they may be wrong?

Bet you think xG is a load of nonsense too? Your data set is way too small to make any conclusions

That's an amazing return

It’s probably because I can rarely buy through general sales because of work (and I spent most of my adult life as a ST holder), so it’s ballot or bust for me and I feel like I’ve hardly been there this season.

Yeah of course, heavy general sale reliance for me. Dreading ballot only if they ever go back to that.

As someone who hasn't purchased a membership (yet), mainly due to living down in the Midlands these days and the logistics of getting up is a head scramble.

I'd realistically only be able to make 4 or 5 dates a season which judging by you guys experience means I might get to 1 game?

When you get a success does it limit you to certain parts of the ground? Do you apply for specific sections? How does that part work?

It gets you access to most parts of the ground, tbf.

Just gave to get sharp about it

To give yourself a decent chance of 1 or 2 wins you’d have to apply in the ballot most home games, not just the games you can make it back for.

For example, I think I’m up to 45 ballot entries and only 3 x successes. And one of them was FUCKING BRADFORD.

You’d have a much better chance in the 10am general sale or the season ticket resale, quite a few of us on here have 100% success rate that way.

For the ballot most people would just select the general area of the stadium and then you can select from all stands if you're successful.

TBH just buying dodgy tickets from resellers is probably a solid option if you only want to go to a few matches and you want certainty. Not that much more expensive since you don’t need a membership and if you choose less glamorous games. And not that I endorse the trade, but I would consider if I didn’t want to go to so many games.

Also refreshing the site in the day/hours before kick off sometimes pays off as well, as people decide they can’t go. But obviously you can’t plan in that case.

No, no and thrice no.

I'll link accounts with someone and buy a ticket on their behalf rather than let them give their hard earned cash to touting vermin.

And am sure others on here who are adept at getting tickets would also be willing to help.
