Deuce
Match tomorrow against Guatemala. TSG has a good write-up available. I really like his line-up as well: http://theshinguardian.com/2012/10/15/that-wasnt-algeria-tsgs-usa-vs-guatemala-preview/

BillClinton
why isn't that Marco Pappa playing? isn't he their best player?
ponsaelius
Thought there'd be a Germany/Austria style draw played out to fuck Jamaica over. Guess it's Guatemala saying goodbye.
Segun Oluwaniyi
Canada should be ashamed of themselves. 8-1 to Honduras? How is this ever possible? The kind of result that can set a nation's development back a decade in country where the sport doesn't have a great foothold.
LucaAltieri
Red Bulls absolutely robbed against DC. Happy the Sounders are facing Galaxy. I fancy our chances against them. Still find it weird that the top two teams in the league aren't in contention to win the MLS cup. The post-season playoff is a fucked up way to decide a champion. Of course I'll be happy if the Sounders win it, but I'd have a hard time arguing that they deserve it.
Deuce
The recalled PK was the most blatant example of encroachment I've ever seen, Henry was nearly in the box by the time Cooper took the shot. Between the initial switching of the home-home, pulling one back in DC, postponing the match in the snow, and Hamid's red card, NY really had everything going to their advantage in this series and couldn't find a way to win. Post-season is the best way to decide a champion. So much more intrigue than having it wrapped-up 3 weeks ahead of time as in Europe (last season's PL was an anomaly). SEMTEX
An anomaly that was far more exciting than any Playoff final ever. Worth it IMO.
Deuce
An anomaly that was far more exciting than any Playoff final ever. Worth it IMO. The average playoffs/championship is more enthralling than the average PL finish, even with the hope that a result like last year's will happen again. This is why the Champions League is, imo, preferable to the end of the PL season when it sort of just, ends. It'll never happen, but a playoff in the PL would be massive. Playing to finish in the top 5 and saving yourself for the knockout stages is a horrible end to the season.

Playing to finish in the top 5 and saving yourself for the knockout stages is a horrible end to the season. That doesn't happen more than a couple games from the end. And it'd be easy to incentivize teams to finish as high as possible, not just to pass a certain threshold. Hey, if you dominate throughout the season but can't finish in the playoffs, you don't deserve the title.

Hey, if you dominate throughout the season but can't finish in the playoffs, you don't deserve the title. On the contrary, anyone can play a storming couple of games without ever having to repeat the form. That shouldn't make a champion. The champions should be whoever came out on top at the end of the season through being the consistently better. One-ff games leave too much up to chance - particularly when you consider the terrible quality of refereeing in MLS.
Hanshithispantz
Sport doesn't need a MASSIVE send off, that isn't what it's about and why changing rules just to ramp up the entertainment should never happen.
Miercoles
Premier League doesn't need playoffs, that's why we have League Cup, FA cup, Europa League, Champions League, Bum-Tiddler's Cup, Wankmasters League and so on. Plenty of knock-out football to go around. The purest way to decide the best team in the league is over a full season playing the same teams the same number of times. Mike
IMO, the best team is the team that does it on the biggest stage. Playoffs determine that.

Ameritoon
GK: Howard, S. Johnson, Rimando DF: Bocanegra, Cameron, Chandler, Edu, Goodson, F. Johnson MF: Bradley, Diskerud, Gatt, Gyau, Jones, Kljestan, Williams F: Agudelo, Altidore, Boyd, Gomez Good, young squad. Hope to see Gyau and Gatt start on the wings, if we use wingers.
