Started a new save in Survival Mode in Rosewood. Died once but managed to get to the fire station early doors second time around and it's stacked. Decent amount of food, all the tools and most importantly, a tin opener. Plan is to spam disassembling stuff and the Live & Living TV channel to get boarded up and to carpentry level 4 I think to be able to make a rain collector. There's  nice looking vn in the carpark Ive not been able to look at yet but fingers crossed.

Also now using the axe as a weapon with 2 hands rather than 1 and it's a game changer. Idiot. I did see a hand axe I think as well. Wonder if its 1 handed and better in any way than the normal axe.

Branko mate. Listen to your old friend Mike.

You see that road in front of the firestation? Drive down that past the police station, and make a left. :aww:

re the van, inspection mode may find the keys on the ground around the van.

It has 0 gas but the car next to it has 30%, not checked for keys yet.

I ended up dying and short of finding a fire truck to block the busted garage door I think Ive lost it as a base. Downstairs is a mess. Im not carrying all those zombies outside and cleaning all the blood. I need base #2.

Main road between police station and firehouse.. the apartments on the second floor of the shops has potential, especially if you have a sledgehammer.

I need to give Rosewood a go, I've only really started at Muldrugh so far

I feel like Rosewood is a great spawn location for a long term game. If you play with respawns off (essential, imo) you can genuinely clear the entire town.

Aye Im going to head up there because last time I had to lead haords away from the firestation I did a huge loop to end up hopping the back fence and up around there looked quiet, especially compared to previous saves. Think the majority of the hoard were actually around the firestation and the little housing estate to the east/right. Unless me looping round has now led them all there.

Ive no idea how Im ever going to survive long enough to have enough xp across skills to be building walls and hooking up generators, like.

Aye Ive read but getting the level 1 and 2 books requires some hefty looting. Had been prioritising carpentry and TV and food. Getting reading in, siphoning petrol, farming seeds, fishing in the lake etc in there is a head fuck. Time isnt your friend in this game. Was all set to move towards this in my firestation utopia before it was destroyed whilst I was watching Kitten TV.

Yes, after an evening of occupying the fire station I can confirm it is indeed a cracking place to hole up. Only thing I've had a problem with all evening though, cannot find a tin opener for love nor money! Clearly like rocking horse shite in the generated world I'm playing in!

Que?

you can change a setting to increase the amount of xp from books and videos. So it doesn’t take so obscenely long to get competent when you have to start a new character.

  • 3 weeks later...

Been playing on an online server, I think I prefer it, there's some really good quality of life improvement mods they've added in... still, the greatest upgrade so far has been the spear with the machete taped to the end of it. I'm slowly working on how to build stuff, repair cars, improve my safehouse and the surrounding grounds, long way to go though.
