FA Cup only gets into Europe if you win it. Unless that's changed back recently?

If they lost the final and finished 8th, no

Im still amazed we’re in fighting chance of European football this season. Just need City to win the bloody FA cup and 6th or 7th gets us into Europe. Wow.

I know you are always going to drop points but its madness that we only got two points from Forest , Luton and Everton at home , as well as losing at Everton and Luton, all three of them are terrible , even winning two of them games would mean we would pretty much have 6th guaranteed.

Win during the week and top 7 should be locked in you’d have thought. Two games in hand on West Ham at the minute and Chelsea have terrible fixtures.

Hopefully we have turned a corner with the last couple of results, but I'm more worried about our own consistency than I am the fixtures and results of the clubs around us. We've been canny wank in games you'd expect us to win this season

Have a feeling we'll finish 7th

Confused with all these permutations. Does that mean if either Manchester club wins the cup then 7th is enough? Damn it, can't even enjoy a potential Cov giant killing.

If Man Utd win it they have to finish 6th for 7th to be Europe. Although if they finished 7th you’d like to think we’d be 6th anyway so it wouldn’t matter, but 6th would be Conference League. City winning it makes 6th Europa League and 7th Conference.

I’m sure the teams around us have similar stories though - is these uncertainties that make football interesting.

It depends. If Man Utd finish in the top 6 and win the FA Cup, then it will go to 7th place. If Coventry win it, only the top 6 get a place.

Aye, forgot to say, in the event of them finishing 6th and us 7th. Suppose IF Cov make then we'll know who we need/want to win the final when it comes around.

Man City win FA Cup

5th & 6th = Europa League

7th = Conference League

Man Utd win FA Cup (and finish 6th)

5th = Europa League

(6th = Man Utd/Europa League)

7th = Conference League

Man Utd win FA Cup (and finish 7th)

5th = Europa League

6th = Conference League

(7th = Man Utd/Europa League)

Man Utd win FA Cup (and finish 8th or lower)

5th = Europa League

6th = Conference League

7th = No European qualification

(8th+ = Man Utd/Europa League)

That's right isn't it? On the assumption that England doesn't get the extra CL place.

I think we’re in for a good run-in.

It’s probably been mentioned before but this Gordon-Isak-Barnes attack has parallels with the Salah-Firmino-Mane trio that did so well for Liverpool. Plenty of pace and trickery.

Thank you for this mate. Have saved this to help me out as we go thru the run in.

We simply need City to win the FA Cup to leave the league fully up in play for us to earn Europa league in 6th. If Man United win the Cup then we just HAVE to finish 7th at minimum.

If we finish top 7 and above Chelsea/West ham etc. we'll qualify for Europe.

The FA Cup final is after the final league games right? Finishing 6th and having to wait til after the FA Cup final to find out what comp we'll be in would suck. Especially if Man U win it.

Done One of them daft predictors got Chelsea on 58 points.

Man u on 60 after 37 games excluding our game v them

Us on 60 after 37 excluding our game v mancs

Brighton and West ham out the picture.

Point at Old Trafford do us for 6th

They were discussing it on Talksport over weekend and said it was a shame the final wasn't the last game anymore. I've just googled it and it is, played on the 25th May. So it's going to, potentially, be your scenario.

Apparently if Villa win the Conference league and don’t finish top 4 then we get an extra Europa league spot.

Might want to read that again as, what I read states the opposite
