If the clubs going to grow into more high pressure situations, like a run in for the champions league, getting that exposure to the pressure and environment at 17 will help his development, these games won't be like preparing for games halfway through the season

Don't see the point. Howe has shown 0 commitment to giving youth players game time. He'll play Paul Dummet in midfield before this guy gets a sniff whether he's better than Dummett or not unless we're like 4 goals up with 3 minutes left on the clock.

Paul Dummett has not played a single PL minute this season.

Why would he learn more at England un17s than he would training even more, doing the tactics team talks etc getting the experience of a top premiership team and game prep and possibly some minutes?

Would much rather Miley or someone else highly rated from the youth pool made the bench than stuffing it with 4 defenders that are never going to see pitch time. Waste of time having all three Lewis, Dummett, Manquillo etc on there.

Youth development at the club has been a shambles for decades tbh.

Let's hope it improves over the next few years.

Honestly seems like more are coming through. Already have Longstaff, Anderson is just starting to get more game time, we’ll whet partial credit for Bobby Clarke and now this lad. With  better scouting and coaching in theory it should get better. Hopefully get that Chris Rigg from Sunderland.
