How much would a 20-22 year old English striker who'd scored 30 in the Championship last season cost?  Could probably go 18-19 year old striker as a more appropriate comparison given how keepers tend to be at their peak slightly older. He's pretty much done the goalkeeping equivalent of that, anyway.

Was more of a reply to the sarcastic poster saying real madrid would want him cos I asked if he was really good with his feet or coming for crosses etc

Lack of other outlets following up this story makes me think it’s a case of Sky Sports repackaging ongoing interest as breaking news.

Aye. Waiting for Keith Downer to be along with “talks ongoing, nothing imminent and clubs aren’t close on a fee”.

Be delighted with this, a long term target and obviously wanted for a reason. Quite excited to see what he brings to us and our play.

For all the slow build sometimes feels painful, it's always fun to see how these signings always seem to move us up a gear.

I know it was a bad season to judge him on when they went down 2 years ago. But he really did seem to struggle. Am I right in thinking corners in particular were a real weakness for him?

Seems to have bounced back this year in the championship, but the standard and the lack of shots he faced thanks to their defence makes it hard to assess his true ability.

If we do sign him, hopefully people have patience ([emoji38]) as clearly we are buying him for the long term and there is bound to be a settling and adjustment period to playing in our stadium and in the champions league etc.

Could see Man United or Spurs coming in for Pope if we got Trafford.

In fact, any side in the league who's got a duff keeper will be looking at Pope.

I think the plan is to have both for a year before moving Pope on next summer.

Pope’s out of contract next summer.

Debatable how much we’d get selling now, so we might think it’s worth the hit of letting him go for free next year, after a year of making sure Trafford has had to fight to be number one.

If Pope could kick, he'd be up there with the best in the league I reckon. How has he not improved? So irritating. [emoji38] Comes across as such a lovely chap as well. Maybe it just get's in his head too much.
