Dyer For Sale In The Summer?

When Kieron Dyer managed just 6 starts during the 2005/6 season, many Toon fans on this site said the club should get him fit and "shift him" as his record shows he is injury prone. But ...

... do those same fans feel the same now?

Dyer was again missing on Sunday, but he will be back for the Premiership game against Middlesbrough on Saturday after recovering from the flu virus which kept him out of Sunday's 1-0 defeat at Wigan.

He is back in the England team, and the summer is obviously the time to make money on a deal. Glenn Roeder sees him as a major player in his side, but what do YOU think?

Twist or bust? Talk about it on our Message Board.

Dyer's recent appearance record.

2006/2007 17 (2)

2005/2006 6 (7)

2004/2005 29 (5)

2003/2004 33 (1)

2002/2003 44 (3)

2001/2002 17 (4)

2000/2001 30 (1)

1999/2000 27 (3)

If it wasn't for Dyer's return, we would still be stuck in the relegation zone. He's the last player we should sell.

He's been as effective as other players, nothing more, especially in this half of the year.

Exploded back, but has played average since, imo anyway.

Are they goals in brackets? f****** s***.

He's scored more than two this year, even you must realise that. And I can't remember him scoring 7 last year.

Hope i've been whooshed btw.

Aye on closer look it can't be goals.

Regardless, he's still shit. ;)

who exactly would buy him ???  doubt he would take a wage cut (80k+P/W) to join sombody else.

Portsmouth.

:coolsmiley:

Spurs too surely. Ruel Fox, Ginola, Jenas - theyve always jumped for our midfielders when theyve had the chance. Theyd handle the wages through bonuses if what Jol says is true.

Ally thinks Dyer is shit yet he rates Viduka.

Absolutely. If your interested in a player who will run quickly all game but do very little, then Dyer's your man. Viduka is class, and his end product is always there. Still yet to sign a new contract at Boro, he'd be a great signing in the Summer.

Whats wrong with Viduka exactly?

viduka also injury prone and only plays well when transfer time approaches.  done it everywhere he's been to be honest

Load of bollocks tbh

did it at celtic, did it at leeds in their last 10 games before relegation, and now putting together a decent run of games (and injury free!!) at boro knowing he's up for a big pay day

Slow, injury prone and he hasn't got into double figures in the league since he played for Leeds.

Strong as they come, holds the ball up well, brings others into the game extremely well, very composed finisher. To name a few qualities.

Alongside Martins he'd be class, same with Owen. Knowing us though we'll go and spend £8m on a duff when a better player is available on a free.

We'd need Viduka for cover, it's hardly as if he'd be budging Martins or Owen off their first team places. And for cover, he'd be a bloody good player. Whenever he plays, he scores. His goalscoring record is very good to be quite honest. What's also encouraging, is that he still scores bundles of goals for average-to-shit teams. He's strong, excellent with his back to goal, can bring players in and most importantly - he's a presence in the box. He'd be great on a free, despite the high wages. I'd rather spend £0 + £40k wages on someone, than £8m + £40k wages, if you see my point.

He's a good player and would do a very useful job for us, no doubt about it. He's injury 'prone' but he'd only be cover. He's slow but his footwork is impeccable and is excellent with his back to goal.

In regards to Dyer, i agree with one of the first replies. We won't sell him so it's pointless talking about it tbh.
