Kitman
"Here take this crucifix........and God have mercy on your soul !!!!!" I read Dracula when I was 10 and nearly shat myself imagining ghouls at the window for afterwards. I've always found the myth very interesting......Stoker's notion of vampires is very different to the emo poseur suck yer cheeks in nonsense that your website link (probably) represents Parky. Nobody
I was shit-scared of vampires when I was a kid. Lived on the sixth floor, so it was basically just vampires that could come and get me
Guest pudmag
Yep, me too. My sadistic older brother used to toment me with dubbed vampire movies in the early 80`s. (when we got our top loading panasonic vhs) It really didn`t help AT ALL. I got over my fear by watching Buffy, and seeing that the fangs and yellow eyes aren`t so scary after all. (still shit scared of Dracula though..... :icon_study:)
Guest pudmag
Saw "fright night" last weekend, followed by "Lost Boys". My 12 year old SHAT himself...ha, ha!! Still can`t bring myself to watch Salems Lot. Just too bloody scary....shudders....
Cajun
Well I've seen your eyes as they fix on me What is he doing? What on earth's the plan? Has he got one? You'd better give me some pointers Since you are the big rocket launcher and I'm just the shotgun Well I ain't got no dollar signs in my eyes That might be a surprise but it's true That I'm not like you and I don't want your advice Or your praise or to move in the ways you do And I never will Cause all you people are vampires And all your stories are stale And though you pretend to stand by us I know you're certain we'll fail Well I've seen your eyes as they flicked on me Full of confusion Your snarl is just so condescending Try to explain that we're onto a win If you feel we get in Near recoups what we're spending He says, I can't believe that you drove all that way Well how much did they pay ya? How much did they pay ya? You'd've been better to stay round our way Thinking 'bout things but not actually doing a thing Cause all you people are vampires And all your stories are stale And though you pretend to stand by us I know you're certain we'll fail Cause all you people are vampires And all your stories are stale And though you pretend to stand by us I know you're certain we'll fail All you people are vampires! junkhead
Few creatures of the night have captured our imagination like Vampires What explains our enduring fascination with Vampires? What is it about the vampire myth that explains our interest? Is it the over tellings of sexual lust, power, control? Or is it a fascination with the immortality of the undead? And what dark and hidden part of our Psyche are aroused and captivated by the legends of the undead?

And what dark and hidden part of our Psyche are aroused and captivated by the legends of the undead? Did you copy that off a book sleeve? :icon_biggrin: Stoker may have sexed up the vampire myth for the titillation of Victorians, but it's modern cinema that's made vampirism "cool". If you go back to the original legend, there's nothing cool or good about being a vampire.......you're dead, you enjoy nothing, feel nothing, you commit acts of murder, you prey on your friends and loved ones, and damn your soul into the bargain. You prey on the living and you hang out in a graveyard - no time for partying with Kiefer Sutherland. The Salem's Lot vampire is much closer to the original myth than Dracula, and is more scary for it imo.....no silly blue tinted sunglasses or beehive hair for a start, just a mean baldy killing machine http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f287/Beyond72/SalemsLotwall.jpg Or Shane MacGowan depending on your perspective :icon_biggrin:

Rob W
This whole thread is anti -romanian Count Vlad Dracul was in fact a patriot, a regular churchgoer and very sound on Turks and the causes of Turks He also took a robust attitude to indiscipline in society and there was a minimum of the re-offending which plagues our society today He believed in setting AN EXAMPLE to people and he was thus smeared by the British Meeja led by Stoker
