Wisdom teeth

Anyone had them removed i gotta have one or two out soon, hurt much?

I had all 4 removed in a one-er under general anaesthetic as they were severely impacted and causing splitting headaches. It hurt more when they were IN than it did once I'd had them out...

...but I guess you'll be under local anaesthetic if it's just two wizzies you're getting out. Guess how much it hurts will be down to how much of your jawbone they need to hack away at first. Can be sore for a couple of days afterwards. Mine got infected so I couldn't eat for about a week afterwards. I recuperated by following the Freddie Shepherd/Greggs KwikGain Double-Your-Weight in a Week diet plan, and loads of ice cream. Not so bad!

I had to wait 3 years on the NHS list though. That was the worst part. If you can get them done private, you may save yourself a couple of years agony.

I haven't even got my wisdom teeth yet! All I have is a slight bit of one sticking out of my gum, but I don't think its going to come through properly.

im having 4 out soon

Get it done under General Anaesthetic mate. That's all I'm saying. If you're getting all 4 out, there will inevitably be some bone removal to be done - do you really want to be awake to see them put a chisel in your jaw?!

Mine all came through perfect by the time I was 19.

You must have a gob like Van Nistelhorse.

Isn't up with everyone else with evolution tbh! read a leaflet that said the human jaw used to be able to fit 32 teeth in but nowadays can only handle 28 so looks like we have the missing link on the forum

Small-jaw propaganda tbh.

People with 8 wisdom teeth are the missing link, I'm just perfectly formed (naturally straight teeth, no operations needed and less infections because of it).

I had one taken out by an Oztralian dentist - he used a gadget that sort of pushed it out sideways - didn't feel a thing with one  normal injection - back at work in an hour

Only took a couple of minutes - I was moaning on too him to get started and he ahd the bloody tooth in his hand....

It has been a while since a dentist pluck out my teeth.I have always been afraid of going to the dentist for my check up but as time pass by,I started to realise that they are helping us to have a healty and strong white teeth. From there on,I started to love visiting my dentist.

Well - i have a real fear of dentisits - it got so bad I couldn't even listen to people talk about them

Eventually of course I HAD to go after about 12 years and boy did it cost me $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

The guy I go to now is very good but it still takes a real effort to go and not find an "excuse"

Its when they reverse a land rover up to teh window and start running a cable in to your mouth you need to worry

but better a local than a full anasthetic - people die under full anasthetic too often for anyones liking
