Even though i do not like how Jones has set up the teams in theese 3 games, 2 points out of them is still 2 more points than i would have dared to hope under Bruce, so with howe coming in and hopefully that means its upwards and onwards for us from here.

jesus, its like most of our players are never anticipating getting ball allways caught when passed to on their heels and not ready so frustrating to watch...

My main gripe with tactics and formation is that we are playing joselu and diame, it is understandable to sit back and try to stay compact, but i feel like having merino and gayle instead of the two i mentioned would give us more time and chances of a counter, so far most of the time we get ahold of the ball it ends up being some sort of game of hot potato that ends up with lumping it forward towards joselu who doesnt have the pace to beat anyone there

Iceland have a smaller population than Luxembourg and Malta and football isn't even their national sport.
If you mean that iceland's national sport is not football, that is wrong, it is our most practised sport so i would say it is our national sport:P even though we have had more international success in Handball, but football is nr 1 sport in iceland atm

not to sure about Alfreð, would prefer on Kolbeinn from ajax if we are gonna take a icelandic striker from the dutch league i think he has more to his game than Alfreð

what is driving me nuts is that we seem to not be able to attack with pace... its like players are under instructions to hold on the ball and slow the play down when we attack

Anyone know why schalke are playing in their third kit and chelsea in their home kit when the match is in gelsenkirchen ?

We'd take the p*ss out of the mackems for celebrating a draw.
I think you must be able to see the difference between settling and celebrating a draw before the game, and then celebrate a draw in a game like this, when we go down to 10 men but manage to stay strong and high and weather the storm esp. when we have capitulated in similar or even not so bad situation in the past.

Fair play to Lagerbäck for taking Iceland to the play offs, massive achievement that Used to think he was the most boring man in football, but I quite like him as a pundit (though he's still really boring to listen to), and clearly knows what he's doing when it comes to qualifying for tournaments.
Not to take anything from lagerback but this is mainly down to the fact that we are starting to reap the rewards of the massive overhaul of our youth system/infrastructure which began in the early 2000's.
we've build around 10 indoor full sized artificial grass pitches, 20 outside artificial pitches and some 130 smaller kickabout fields at schools since then.
this has given our young kids almost 2 - 4 days a week of indoor training a week over the winter months instead of having to train outside in the cold on gravel or inside some horse stadiums like when i was younger :=)
the youth coaches are almost all professional coaches and around 60% have uefa b coaching license instead of just some random parent of the kids taking over the coaching role as i understand is the norm in some countries with the young kids

since when have we gone the easy way? its not over yet.... we have been decent against the "big" sides this year esp. at Sjp 5 points from the last games could be just enough if other results go our way

Maybe saving him for Wednesday. This game is gone
most likely. game is lost... if we would have netted 2 perhaps from thoose chances he would still be on i reckon but its a lost game now
-
man missed 4 great chances now... could have been equal with a tad bit of luck
-
I think it was just basicly his manager didnt want to play him because he preferred more defensive midfielders or something like that.. just didnt want to play him
-
what a save!

What happened to arteta? must have missed it when i went to get a drink or something

Remember the days when the German team was in a mess like that - 2 years before the World Cup in the own country.
They took the risk and gave it to Klinsmann, who brought in a certan Jogi Löw as his assistant. Today, many people say Löw was the genius behind all, with Klinsmann just the one to get through his own ideas and to get it done his way.
He (Klinsmann) certainly had bulit the foundation of what we see today - a well playing, young and successfull German team.
Without Klinsmann, someone else would have come in as head coach and would have continued without making many changes.
Players like Ballack and Frings would still be the leaders of the team today.
Wonder if something like that would be possible in England, too? We all know how poor Shearer was as a manger for us but, with the right assistant manager, he could probably do some of the same....
I dont think its quite as simple as that because i think after the 1-5 loss against england they changed the whole youth training in germany so it wasnt solely a new manager and picking a younger team they had to make the younger guys "better" first

Can't say I watch much Bundesliga outside of the highlights, what's his situation at Hoffenheim?
He was playing well under Ralf Rangnick, was voted the fans player of the year after only 13 games for them. Ragnick resigned in january 2011 and after that he got little playtime i think new manager uses a system where he doesnt see a future for Gylfi at Hoffenheim (he was playing in the hole i think under Rangnick)

Fuming, the constant hoofing just i dont get it... our best and most effective football has been keeping it on the ground and passing it yet when in trouble we seem to resort to some shit hoofing and hope for a miracle

barfa getting ready to get on )))

BA HATTRICK :frantic: :frantic:
-
Very well taken by Ba
-
I think in the last games he should be at the top in the pecking order of current strikers we have... he is scoring, getting chances and also keeping the ball and linking it to the midfield after hoofs, with that said tho we really need a better quality forward in and also hope that ba will find his feet
