  1. He’s well past in. Don’t be fooled by his age. He’s had proper health issues and he’s not remotely the player hw was.

Looked shocking when he came on earlier still got a nice touch but everything physically is gone.

  2. Has anyone clarified whether or not he can just hand his notice in?

    Marca say “No”.  https://www.marca.com/en/football/international-football/2019/12/04/5de7830e22601d6e4b8b45f0.html

Someone, maybe you?, keeps posting that Chinese law stipulates that he can just walk away. I’m dubious. Keep hoping that somebody back the idea up.

That article is from last year he now only has 17 months left on his contract he’s not on a long 4 or 5 year contract.

I reckon he’d be cheaper than is being made out.

Apparently he tried to get a mutual termination in January when the China FA changed all the rules meaning they can’t buy any expensive star players anymore and all their signings have to be low wage capped signings.

But apparently the owner convinced him to continue instead of leaving but since then Covid has hit and they haven’t been able to start their season.

Will Dalian be wanting to continue to pay a manager £1million a month for doing nothing since November or will they think to cash in.

I don’t think it would be that hard to get him you’ve potentially got a deal that suits all parties.

I guess that’s what George Caulkin meant by incredibly complicated situation.

  4. Barkley in a Gerrard type number 10 role that Rafa put him in behind Torres would be interesting to see.

With his double pivot behind of Sean Longstaff(In his Rafa form) and a new signing like Soumare alongside him.

Burnsie. Can I ask why you have multiple Twitter accounts, which you use to talk to yourself & back yourselfup on? Can I also ask why you blocked me for calling you out for your racist behaviour? Can I ask why you were threatening a teenage (underage) girl on twitter after she exposed the dm's you were sending her, are you not married with a kid? But most of all. Can I ask if you ever found those aliens?

You. Are a wrangun, not many people on here will know but they will eventually.

    You should ask him.

  5. Was gutted when Rafa left even though I’d long since stopped going to matches. He gets the place and would build the club up from bottom to top, and that’s undoubtedly what we need.

However, I can’t put my finger on it but Pochettino just excites me more, and I think the reason is signings. You just know Rafa’s signings would be to suit his system, even if that meant having someone like that danish kid jorgenson up front.

Rafa is certainly the safe pair of hands and sensible option, but big part of me would love to see what Pochettino could do.

This, not sure why but Poch excite’s me more

It'll be the style of football. As much as I like Rafa, given a "budget"  I want entertainment like Bayern V Chelsea which was a whole new sport, Ajax a season back, Barcelona  with the advent of tika taka, not just winning but great to watch aswell.

IF (?) We are to be the richest club even given FFP winning is pointless ,for me without panache.....could Rafa do this?

    Yes.

Rafa Benitez is the highest goal rate Real Madrid manager in the last 60 years produced their biggest goalscoring win in Champions League history(8 v 0) and their biggest La Liga win in sixty years(10 v 2)

It’s just a myth that he only plays defensive football and that Poch would be more attacking than him if both had a good team/financial backing.

    Rafa’s goal rate at R Madrid(2.76)

    Rafa’s goal rate at Chelsea(2.06)

    Rafa’s goal rate at Napoli(1.96)

Compare that with Poch’s goal rate at Spurs(1.91)

The only reason Poch would excite some people more is because the media describe Rafa as only a defensive manager when in fact he’s one of the most approach adaptable managers in the world he chooses the approach best suited to the group of players he has.

He was too attacking at Real Madrid if anything but proved he can play very attacking football with a 2.76 goal rate.

    Control c, control v.

I notice that time away hasn’t made your debating technique any less relentlessly tedious...

I was just answering his question.

  6. Barkley in a Gerrard type number 10 role that Rafa put him in behind Torres would be interesting to see.

With his double pivot behind of Sean Longstaff(In his Rafa form) and a new signing like Soumare alongside him.

  8. John Stones and Ross Barkley... yeah good players and all but really? That’s who he’s bring in to solve our woes?

Pure bullshit that article. He’s currently busy planning a pre season in China.

I’d love to have him back but one, he doesn’t break contracts.. not for us and not for Liverpool either. If he agrees to do something he will do it, as his seeing out the contract under Mike Ashley has shown. And two, I think there’s more to the link with Poch to be honest. Not terrible either btw.

We know for sure that he would improve on Bruce but if it didn’t really click then we could always go back for Rafa in 2 years time.

I’m fairly sure his next job will be his last job, what a way to end his career by building something special here.

It won’t be he said he’s going to coach for another 10 years and into his 70’s.

I think he’ll go onto manage Spain or England when he’s in his late 60’s said he wants to manage a national team at the end of his career not while he still wants to be on the training pitch/coach players all the time.

A whole decade left for Rafa he’ll end up being the Spanish Sir Bobby :smitten:

  9. Matty has looked good whenever he's played. Only just turned 20

Very raw I think he needs way more coaching than Sean.

Other way round for me. I think Matty has the most talent, and can be freerer to express it, Sean needs more discipline and intelligence which requires more support from coaching and players.

Disagree I think Sean is way more talented those few months under Rafa he was sensational as one of his pivots.

Matty has just popped up with the odd goal rather than complete performances.

  10. Build On/Keep :smitten:

    Dubravka

    Lascelles

    Schar

    Longstaff

    Almiron

    Saint-Maximin

    Give time/Develop/Improve Via Good Coaching

    Woodman

    Matty Longstaff

    Joelinton

Ruthlessly sell/upgrade within the first year

    Ritchie

    Shelvey

    Get rid straight away

    Krafth

    Murphy

    Atsu

    Gayle

    Is what I’m hoping.

  11. Rondon is a known quality. He has good relationships with Rafa, other players, and the fans.

I don't know what kind of money we'll have to spend in the window. Maybe we'll have 'money to burn', maybe not. I do think that Rondon is a great value that will serve the club well as a target man, off the bench, in Cup games, whatever.

If we can afford to get Benitez back at Newcastle and out of his contract in China I'd imagine we'd have a deep pockets.

Rondon was cracking for us and I was disappointed we didn't sign him permanently but it is what it is.

Do you think if Benitez had total control of transfers during his time at us do you reckon Rondon would have been his number 1 target in the summer of 2018? Im not so sure. We only moved for him because he was cheap and we could swap him for Gayle.

I bet if Benitez had a decent sum to spend on a striker back in 2018 he probably would have looked at other options before ending up at Rondon.

Yeah he wanted to sign Alassane Plea in that summer of 2018 but they didn’t let him have the funds for it so we missed out ended up getting Rondon on loan late on in that Summer window.

And now Plea is one of the best forwards in Germany and getting linked to Arsenal, Man Utd, Spurs.

  12. I don’t think he said he wants to live in London. He said he’s living in London at the moment but is open to anything, even a different country.

I don’t think he’s been approached yet, but he’s basically saying to whoever, sell me a project to work on and I’ll listen.

I’d be delighted if he came in as manager but my first choice is Rafa all the way. To see what he could do with a proper budget..

    Basically this.

  13. Caulkin knows what Staveley wants but Staveley won't be in control of the Club.

This is what matter. In assumption Staveley wants Rafa. The Reubens through their son Jamie wants Poch. The Saudis want Allegeri.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this is fairly close to the case

It’ll end up being a collective decision/choice though obviously not just one person making it.

  14. I can’t see Poch willing to come in at the end of the season with just 4 weeks preparation for the start of next season I think this will be a big problem in getting a top manager if they do let Bruce see out this season until August.

Poch/Benitez/Allegri very unlikely to accept just 4 weeks preparation time before next season.

This is why Bruce needs to be binned straight away.

  15. I really really really really want Rafa to come back.

That's both my head and my heart speaking.

He's a leader who I trust, and an experienced pro who will be best positioned to organise a rebuild of the club, from the ground up.

The 'defensive' tag was never something that sat well with me. He organised us to win, and sometimes that meant being defensively structured. With the best tools he will have us playing pure football.

I want him back more than anything.

Rafa is my number 1 choice but lets not start pretending that his teams will be more pleasing on the eye than a Poch team. That's not to say its negative or defensive, but Rafa's teams will also be more in control than a Poch team who would have more freedom for individual expression.

    Still Rafa though
