  1. Could be something, could be nothing, but.....

A private jet has just landed at Newcastle from France with a single passenger wearing a tracksuit.

Who, if you’ll excuse the generality of it - looks like a footballer.

  2. Same Carr who brought in the likes of Riviere and Amalfitano.

Just saying, he's generally good at his role but in terms of spotting relative unknowns his record isn't good.

I sort of agree, we've brought in (since time begun) some duds.

But, and it's a canny but, under this present regime I'd be interested to see where on Carr's list our actual in comings lie. If the two you mention were his no. 1 choices then I'd be more than a bit worried but if I had to guess I'd say that he brings his list of potential players into the club and they go for them more on price than suitability.

  3. 'IF' circa £10m is the price that Liverpool are willing to part with him then there will be a canny list of clubs who'll be interested.

They, like everyone outside the red half of mersyside, will realise that it was the wrong club at the wrong time playing the wrong tactics for him.

No guarantee that he'd be the rampaging bull of a centre forward we had here but i'd put money on him not being the shadow of Bensham he is now.

£10m - low risk gamble, shame its probably 99% crap though.

  4. What 'olive branch' are the press reading into Barton's tweet.

I read it as him stating that just because the club 'say' he can leave on a free doesn't mean he 'has' to go - he's still got a year left on a lucrative contract and other than being fined for tweets what could the club realistically do if he could if he digs his heels in - and I believe he is that type - that he'd think he's got one over them even if they put him on gardening leave or whatever.

If the owner/chairman were not such twats then i'd be a bit inclined to back them over Bartons recent behaviour, but since they are then I suppose they're getting all they deserve.

Disclaimer - unless there have been other tweets of real reconciliation or he and the club are actually talking together of course - then thats alright then.

Not his tweets but a club source

A senior club source said last night: “Joey’s attitude ahead of the Leeds friendly could have been much better and the club have been frustrated and bewildered by his use of Twitter to showcase his feelings.

But what was said yesterday puts matters in a little different light and everyone knows what a fine player he can be. It may be in everyone’s best interest to find a way out of the corner that we’ve painted ourselves in.”

Its that bit that caught my eye, I can only presume they mean his tweet, although TBH nowt suprises me with this club now.

  6. Offshore -

No, but why the f*** did it have to be f***ing Liverpool. Would be bearable if he went to just about anyone else.

Look at the positives, at least the helicopter pilot knows his way there this time.

  7. Honestly, did anyone actually think that he'd still be here for next season?

    Even before the Barton debacle?

    Anyone?

Nope, me neither, so while this may seem like a big shitty cherry on top of a bucket of shitty ice cream its hardly a bolt out of the blue ala Carroll's departure.

Still a load of shite all the same mind.
