I've looked all over the internet for the result of France v Portugal last night in the Toulon Tournament. Had £10 on France HT/FT, does anyone know how it finished?

Got to agree. Saved the Toon - FACT
Was anyone here part of the 25,989 that saw his goal that saved the day? I was right in line with shot in it went what a goal.
Gallowgate, almost in line from where he hit the shot - flew in - pandemodium
Were you in the Scoreboard quite far back, but near The Corner. That's where I was when the ball hit the net, I was near the front 30 seconds later. :bounce: :bounce:

I think he's brilliant. I remember when he first came on to the scene in the lat 90's Fergie said he was the best natural defender at the club, some statement.
Bandwagons are generally parked for the weak minded to jump on, and a few mediocre games for England and now hes shite??? Baffling. He's obviously better at centre half than right back, but he's great in the air, athletic, strong, uses the ball well, and makes good decisions. He'd be an absolutely brilliant buy for the toon, and if it took 6 or £7m to buy him I'd still pay it.

Who is the bloke in the middle of the pic with the MASSIVE HEED!
He HAS to be related to Andy O'Brien.

Martin Jol will be able to give us the lowdown anyway. Personally I can't wait.
My sister was sitting in with Daniel the other day, and he announced they were expecting visitors. Who walks in? It was only Bill Gates, I tried to get my son to post it on here, but he's been in between his University at Cambridge today, and a MENSA meeting which he was chairing so he didn't have time. I would've posted it myself but I've been having discussions with Alan about a multi-million dollar property deal in Dubai.
To cut to the chase, Mr Gates will be putting a formal offer to the clubs board next week, and his representatives have had preliminary discussions with Felipe Scolari who is receptive to managing Spurs, they've also spoken with Kaka's agent who is adamant he'll sign for Spurs on a £40,000 a week contract, as he appreciates how important the wage ceiling is to this great club.
-
I'm surprised that Spurs is more valuable than Newcastle!
Take in to account whoever bought us was buying £100m of debt so our true value (obviously) is more than theirs.
-
Leicester £250,000
He got a hattrick against us the season before he signed for us as well. One of two times in the last 40 years of NUFC, that two players have scored hattricks on the same pitch, Quinn got a hattrick in the same game. The other time Kelly got a hattrick too, who else did?
What a geeky cunt eh?

Honest something will go wrong it always does. No this isn't a quote from Northern Monkey, it's what my heart is telling me.

From a Scottish ITK mackems.gif
Before you start branding Joey Barton a humanitarian for knocking back West Hams £73k a week, let me assure you that signing for West Ham was NEVER an option. Neither was Celtic. Strachan did make the phone call, and was categorically told that for personal and family reasons Joey diod not want to move that far away from his present address and wanted to remain in the Premiership. The Hammers were told that too, but thought money would change his mind, they were wrong, and quickly withdrew the offer. He'd have been happier in the North West but no-one made a serious bid for him.Newcastle to Manchester 143.2 miles 2hrs28
Manchester to Glasgow 214.0 miles 3hrs38
Manchester to London 199.2 miles
Apparently a distance of 60 miles made him turn his nose up at a more lucrative contract from West Ham. There's been so much shite written about this deal, and you really couldn't make some of it up. With Celtic the ONLY thing would've been he wouldn't want to play in the SPL. With West Ham oh dear. This bloke says he wanted to stay in the NW. Liverpool and Man Utd weren't going to sign him were they, and he described Everton as being a tenth the size of Man City, so where do you think he'd have wanted to go, Wigan? Bolton? Blackburn??!??!
-
It's hilarious the fact he didn't even want to speak to West Ham in the end. They've completely piped down on their board about it, still they have other things to occupy them.....

VFB Stuttgart are letting Tomasson go on a free. Whatever you might think of him at the toon, what can't be denied is he's forged a fabulous career since leaving us. UEFA Cup Winners medal, CL winners and losers medal, Serie A title, great international performances in big tournaments. He's filled out a lot since he was here, and don't forget he was badly played out of position, while his contribution to "that night" against Barcelona, is often over looked.
I really think we could do a lot worse than have him as back up, and that's all I'd want him as to be honest, and perhaps he would give us an option of playing a different way on occasion as there aren't many players who are more tailor made for "the hole".

they would have been fair prices if they done the bizz,if barton is crap for us then it will be seen as a bad priceWe got him on the cheap from Man City5.5m for Barton is not cheap, imo.
Speed £5.5m - 1998
Hamann £4.5m - 1998
Dyer £6m - 1999
Maric £3.5m - 1999
Bassedas - £4m - 2000
Jenas - £5m - 2002
Viana - £8.5m - 2002
Parker £6.5m - 2005
Emre £3.8m - 2005
A selection of central midfield players over the last decade who have signed for us. Look at the prices even as far back as when we bought Speed. I don't think we've got a bad deal at all in terms of a transfer fee considering he's proven Premiership quality. If he does half as well as Speed then we're on a winner.
I agree. It's a fair price. Liverpool paid £24m for Cisse and Diouf. Man Utd paid £28m for Juan Sebastian Veron. Chelsea paid £24m for SWP. They're on about £10m for this Fernandes who might be good but he's far from proven. I think it's a good deal.
Aye but £5.5m isn't going to bankrupt us, I don't think this is a gamble, I think we'll get value for money genuinely. How many good players have you seen made look average in a shite team. A really good example is Freddie Kanoute, he wasn't absolute pish at West Ham and Spurs, but look at him now he's with a really quality team, it's the same with Joey Barton, playing with better players will make him a better player.
-
I reckon Barton and McKay went into SJP wanting £70k a week. Shepherd baulked and turned them down. Barton & agent left saying they were going to listen to West Ham under the guise of him 'considering Newcastle's offer'. Shepherd bottled it and offered them the £70k they wanted before they even got on the A19. Barton & co turn the 4x4 around and head back to SJP laughing their tits off.
All hypothetical and I can't prove any of it. Just my cynical self reading between the lines.
To be fair Midds, I reckon whatever we were going to put on the table West Ham would better anyway. West Ham will offer players 10 grand more than other clubs because it's the only way they'll get them to sign. If it was all about money he could've kept on driving and used that as a bargaining tool for getting 80k a week off those animals. My take on it anyway.

See the end of season report, forgive my ignorance here btw because I've never held a great interest in the details of our finances, apart worrying about our wages/turnover ratio being over 50%, which is the recommended maximum level for a healthy club. See if you're a share holder surely you get a detailed report, about who's getting paid what, or am I just so wrong it's ridiculous?
-
Quite f****** sad, if you ask me.
Bloody hell.
(Am i gonna be whooshed?)
Not really. I know it's only messing around and to be expected on a football forum but it annoys me that just about every single female member on this forum is focused on as soon as they make a post, generally not so much for what they have to say, but for the fact that they're, well, female. I'm sure the majority don't mind but I reckon it puts some females off posting here.
A naa and they're all stinkers anyway the ones on here.
Parker was allegedly on £55,000 a week for the person that asked, and if any of you believe Joey Barton is seriously getting £70,000 a week in his 5 year deal, yiz are daft c***s. David Craig Sky Sports
David Kelly - who did we buy him off?
