  1. They're a pretty streetwise outfit.  They kept possession during the periods of the game when they needed to.  For the first five minutes they just bumped the ball around to make sure the home crowd didn't get excited.  Any time we got a chance, they just kept the ball for the couple of minutes afterwards.  The only time they looked rattled and panicked was for about ten minutes after our goal, that's when we needed to hit them again, but it only lasted ten minutes then they regained their composure and frustrated us again before notching themselves.  They know how to win in Europe.  No shame in losing to them imo.

  2. It was a good gme like.  Fergie was pretty bold sticking four forward players on from the start and keeping it that way most of the game.  Meant that when he got his away goal they could afford to play a bit more cagey in the second half knowing that for all Madrid would love to throw the kitchen sink they'd have to keep four behind the ball.

Both teams had good chances, could have gone either way.

  3. I know the club have been working on trying to get more tickets out of Brugge for the away trip. You'd hope/expect that any increase in allocation is done on the proviso the gesture is reciprocated.

I doesn't work that way though because we won't sell out the home end so if we don't give them enough tickets for the away end then they'll just all buy tickets in the home end creating a segregation issue.  Absolutely nothing like the situation for the away leg.  At all.  Ever.

  4. You wouldn't make Rooney captain of the local pub domino team let alone the national football team.  Too much of a headbanger.

Mind you, John Terry strikes me as the sort who'd slip the double six into a pint of Guinness when nobody's looking.

  5. Disappointed with Bordeaux tonight.  Their only tactic seemed to be keeping their wingers right on the touchlines to try and stretch our defence but they created very little.  I expected better, how bad must Brugge be to take four off that lot?

We were good without being spectacular.  The second and third goals came at good times.  After the third it became rather attritional with Bordeaux resorting to damage limitation and us content to knock the ball around like a training session.

Ferguson looked very good and played some great balls down the line although i dare say he won't want to play at LB forever.  Cabaye's quality stood out.  Obertan was decent going forward but didn't seem too fussed about chasing back when we didn't have the ball and until he "does a Ben Arfa" and changes his attitude then Pardew won't trust him with a jersey in big games.

Qualification should now be a formality.  Had a good time tonight, filled a car from Dundee, two of the guys had never been to SJP before buth both said they'd be keen to go back.

    After 2 games?

Yep. The other teams are awful. I'll gladly bet you a tenner if you don't agree like?
