  1. Firstly I understand and support Rafa's sticking with a long term plan regarding formations etc, however I think he has royally f***ed up his long term prospects because to implement his long term plan he needs full buy in from Ashley and to do that he needed to show short term success.

Whilst I am fully on Rafa's side, Ashley may perceive that:

    1. He appears to have failed to win the league

    2. He spunked significant transfer funds on a number of players that were either s*** (Sels) or rarely featured. Could have signed 1 good first team player with that.

    3. Despite the noises made about not sending injury risk players onto the pitch, the fact that the club doctor allowed Aarons and Gayle onto the pitch was a f***ing travesty. Our doctor has a more CV and should not be in this role and Rafa should have been more ruthless there.

These recent results could well be the beginning of the end for Rafa, he will probably survive as manager for now, but a Graham Carr influenced 12 months beckons.

Good post that, echoes my concerns, in Ashleys mind he will have seen Hughton win us the championship with ease and wonder why Rafa couldn't do the same with a much bigger budget, would he have a point? Maybe a little, but the team we came down with last time was far better than our current one so you can see it both ways.

Either way I can't see Rafa being here come kick off next season should we go up, it'll be job done from him and goodbye when he doesn't get what he wants to take us forward, we'll end up with another limited manager just happy to be in the job and whether we stay up or not would be anyones guess but if Rafa goes I won't give a flying f*** anyway.

All day long, myself and a good few of the lads I sit around reckon this will be the most likely scenario.

If this does happen anyone going back deserves the shit the club serves up regardless.  They've a golden ticket with Rafa and to turn it all around, blow it this time and I'm done with it.

People need to remind themselves of the crap we've put up with during Ashleys ownership ( i'm not buying into the total fluke season we finished high under Pardew)

  2. Is this for real??? Do they actually think that's how it works and all they need to pay is the first instalment? Thick as fuck if so.

Weren't we paying for players that where no longer at the club for a while? Rings a bell.

  3. 2nd might be the best thing for us. Should we go up we need huge investment in the summer; practically a brand new Xl and whatever will contribute to convincing the arseholes in charge of that, the better.

I agree with that, walking the league would be the worst thing we could do when considering next season.

Good point, no mater what, if we go up we need to spend huge amounts. Can anyone see that happening?

  4. He's getting pretty much the max out of the squad available.

Those people that are moaning their heads off are probably the same people who were at the start of the season predicting something ridiculous like remaining the whole season unbeaten, Mitrovic raping the league, blah blah blah!

They clearly misjudged the league due to their lack of knowledge about it.

He's doing the job expected, imo.

I respectfully disagree.  If that is the case and we are promoted we're totally f***ed next season without major surgery to the squad.

    Massively.

IMO we really should be performing better than we are. If he's doing the best with the squad he has, let's not get promoted as we are coming straight back down.

  5. Has us playing terribly at the moment, let's face it, been poor To watch most of the season but he's been getting the results, scraping a good few of them.

People are right to ask questions or criticise without being flamed.

Hiwever, We really needed to strengthen in January, would have made his job a whole lot easier and pretty much guaranteed promotion, but never that simple at nufc when ran by the Idiots in top.

You just know Ashley and co won't think it's good enough for the squad we have. Trouble ahead no doubt.

  6. Nobody a bit disappointed that we have Rafa Benitez as our manager and have spent a fair chunk on players and we're playing so badly and have lost so many games?

We're still top and still on for promotion but I can't help but feel we should be more comfortable, some of the players have a lot to answer for mind.

Massively, I thought we'd be a lot more comfortable this season than it's been, still not convinced we will go up.

THere has been very few games were we have looked decent.

  7. The consistent thing here is Carr, been here ages (through horrendous times) and clearly has the ear of his master.

He has to be one of the biggest problems, I get the impression Charnley is just doing what he is told by his Boss - heavily influenced by Carr.

  8. I feel totally deflated this morning and am almost at the point of thinking that there's no point in even being promoted.

I said this to my brother last night after we saw the Rafa interview.

We are both chucking it if Rafa walks in the summer and that'll be it for us until Ashley has gone.

After last nights performance and The Rafa thing I'm a 6/10 - only if we keep players fit

  9. I agree he got it wrong today but why didn't he do more to put it right ?

No one is beyond criticism, he definately left it far too late. It clearly wasn't working or was ever going too.

Lets hope,it's one of a few blips we can deal with.

  10. Yup. Diame was terrible. A bit better in the second half after Shelvey had a word a couple of times. His touch was so bad amd his passing worse.

First half was pretty poor with us lowering ourselves to their level with balls hoofed up, much better second half when we passed it about a bit.

As above we had a nightmare getting away. Ended up dumping the car, grabbing some food and waiting almost an hour before we got moving!
