  1. I imagine the new ownership will value the 'If Rafa can work for these lot (Saudi state, etc) - that's good enough for me.' line tremendously. His appointment would go far in appeasing fans who are uneasy about being owned by the Saudi PIF.

If there is a manager who can galvanise the club under new (somewhat controversial owners), it's Rafa.

He is the right man is every aspect: he will continue building his vision for the club, from the ground up, thoroughly and at the right pace. He will not likely sign players who 'don't want to be here' and he will go about presenting the club is the same professional way that he had been doing before.

Rafa is absolutely the man for this job. Would he have issues working for the Saudis though? I'd have to assume that he would have his reservations...

  2. Bars in Hanoi showing this, lads?

@HanoiToon will be able to assist on Twitter.

Googled expecting it to be a p*ss take. [emoji38] Wasn't expecting a real account. He's impressively obsessed with hating Joey Barton, like.

    Knows his stuff then

    Lived there for 3 years.

You'll 100% get the game in O Learys on Bà Triệu.

Other then that you can go to most pubs or cafes. In Tây Hồ you have the Republic and a new Vietnamese run Irish bar The leprechaun.

Any help, let me know :)

  3. I really think we're spending too much time trying to explain why our own goals and wins aren't really valid TBH.

who said they weren't valid ian?  i missed it, can you point me in the right direction mate...

These posts are really annoying, FWIW. I obviously don't mean literally.

FWIW I agree. I mean- come on.

IMO If you guys cant enjoy 4 wins in the bounce then you'll never be satisfied TBH. You cant dominate teams for 90 minutes and smash everyone for 4 and 5 goals.

FWIW, Pards probably has to be careful managing expectations now that he's proving the doubters wrong.

Let's just hope this continues and get behind the team and Pards.

EDIT: BTW looks like Pards was right about Europe too - noticed a few teams have lost games after a European match this season.

  4. What a sad, bitter bunch of Mackems we sound like when we can't appreciate a player's decade-plus mostly outstanding service for obssessing about him losing the will at a club which had just appointed Joe f**king Kinnear.

To see some older posters - who have seen countless crocks of sh*te  and shameless mercenaries take this club for a real ride over the years - destroying Given is particularly sad.

  5. I was just so sick of the constant changes of manager and chaos at the club that I wanted a bit of stability. I didn't anticipate that Ashley would manage to retain Pardew and the chaos would still happen (JFK). I would give him a bit longer, but if I could guarantee that Ashley would appoint someone for actual footballing reasons I couldn't really argue with a sacking.

    This for me.

  6. On the sidelines "Hatem, Hatem, Hatem, HATEM, HATEM, HATEM! He's not heard me"

    "HATEM, HATEM, HATEM, HATEM"

"HATEM, HATEM, HATEM, I'll speak to him at half time"

    "HATEM!"

    :spit:

  7. I know everyone's different but sometimes wonder what it would take for some folk to reach "raging" stage.

In this case, something fairly specific for me. It was not inconceivable we'd sell our best players and bring in some cheap crap. It has been often said this would fit the Ashley model.

    We haven't done that.

We have Krul, Debuchy, Yanga Mbiwa, Santon and Collocinni. A very pleasing back 5.

We have Haten Ben Arfa, Sissoko, Cabaye and Anita. A perfectly palatable central 5.

We have Gouffran, Cisse and Remy. A not unexciting front 3.

We have a good bench, but beyond that, not a lot of quality.

We clearly lack an effective senior attacking left winger and a striker. Pardew indicated he wanted at least one or both and he got neither. That is deeply disappointing, deeply frustrating, and we're all pretty angry about it. Not least because all it would have taken to elevate our optimism for this season considerably would have been that one extra attacker.

Raging, no (that would have come if we'd sold anyone of note). But as it is, it's an opportunity well and truly missed.

    Good post

  8. Cisse is a victim of the lack of cohesion and purpose in our attacking play. He's been poor but he hasn't been helped by our ramshacke approach. He doesn't get many chances anymore. Most strikers need 3/4 chances a game to score.

This. And he seems pretty despondent with the current squad and lack of attacking cohesion. Wouldn't blame him either.
