Nobody but Man United, Liverpool and Arsenal would be able to build anything to challenge Man United, Liverpool and Arsenal except in a freak exceptional season after which they're be plucked bald by them - ironically because of their money having been able to capitalise on the ultra-monetisation of football via things like international fanbases and areas of the country. You might say they got those fanbases for a reason but how is anybody else going to manage the same?
Well said

And you see this as a good thing? Man City have no soul and their success is underpinned by luck of simply landing - completely out the blue - the richest owners. Nothing to do with building their success and building their revenue as a result.
Spending crazy money under our new owners like City did pre FFP holds no appeal to me and I assure you the novelty will wear off.
I used to think like this. But after seeing the big 6 / PL try and do everything they can to stop us even remotely getting close to them, so they can share the league / competitions / money between them.. I want them to get fucked and if that would mean us getting sponsored by a Saudi company for a similar amount to a Man U/Man City etc, then so be it

I think we were only ever after Ederson if Joelinton didn't renew his contract. Shame like, he looked outstanding in that Europa League final.
Aye, was really impressed by him

Pretty gutted with this one, was a perfect short term and long term RCB for us whether as a 1st choice or 2nd choice, and the free transfer
Am I right in thinking that as a free signing, the first year costs of agent fees/signing on bonus, wages etc would be similar to that of a singing of £30m or so? So the benefit of a free transfer only kicks in on the second year?
If so, hope we get Diomande or something and pray we're in CL subsequent seasons 😂

Funny thing about Gordon - he's a bit of a bully at SJP but not the best away from home. Like of his 20 odd G/A. 15+ were at home I think. Most players are better at home but his record is particularly home-focussed.
You would think he would be better away from home with more space on the counter but it ain't the case so far.
Yeah, think that's why he is uniquely good again the best / top 6 teams, they actually try to win majority of the time and as a result leave some space behind

Sesko and Havertz are a bit too similar for Arsenal surely?

Isn't Adeyemi predominantly a left winger?

And be back in pot 4.
Up the coefficient

Gutted for all the reasons people said, winning something, extra money, slightly more attractive for players etc
But I'm gutted we're not gonna have a midweek game, best part of my Mon-Fri 9-5 life ?
-
Problem with Gallagher imo is that he isn't anything new to our team, yeah I think he's good as a high pressing, high stamina 8. But we have more than a few of those, yeah I think he'd improve us, but for the money + what we get I don't see it
-
Always thought if we'd sell Bruno, we'd need 2 midfielders to improve on what we currently have with him, 1 replacement just wouldn't be a step forward as Bruno is so good and unique, unless it was a Cammavinga or something, which we couldn't do
-
Can we in anyway use this situation to improve our FFP position?
E.g lawsuit to claim the wages we paid him over x period etc

Said it last summer and I still think Edwards is used as their smokescreen.
Drip feed him some "info" while actually going after someone completely different.
Isn't this what happend with the Tonali deal, he said we were definitely going after someone else iirc.
Yep, Nmecha and Barella
-
Hopefully it's another smokescreen to Edwards a la Nmecha, Barella
Having said that £15m would be cheap, no way Arsenal would do that

He loves a Hollywood save

Put it in the Tino thread few months back, but this was a possible suggestion we could head down next season (which was based on Hall not being here at the time)
Still feel it’s something the side can evolve into. 4-3-3 out of possession, 3-2-5 in it. Could even look a bit like this in possession for other games:
Tino, Tosin, Kelly/BurnTonali, Hall
New winger, Bruno, Willock, Gordon
Isak
Just options that I feel enable us to control the ball better.
Interesting thoughts mate
Playing both Tino and Hall makes it hard to have the back 3 in possession like you said, Tino is better running up the pitch, and Hall is starting to look quality in his distribution
Will be interesting to see how we fit them both in and maximise there skillsets, both are wasted imo if they're hanging back in the 3, someone like Kelly at LB would make more sense then, but what would Halls role be then? Etc

Tino - Schar - Botman - Hall
Tonali - Bruno - Joelinton
Barnes - Isak - Gordon
Barnes right wing?

So impressed with his heart and determination considering he was being kicked to bits and was clearly in pain / struggling

Agree on Barnes. It didn’t make sense considering we didn’t sign a RW. It didn’t make sense when Barnes and Gordon didn’t start together while both were fit. And it doesn’t make sense now it looks like Barnes is Gordon’s backup.
We need to address problem positions. I
Aye, it was odd at the time and hindsight has only proven that
Gordon is so good on the left, deffo strange to buy a 40m back up for him. Just hope we get a quality RW this summer

What does he say before '... just so I know who you are'?

Don't watch many interviews / press conferences, but has anyone else noticed what an absolute wanker Ange is compared to the start of the season?
He seems to find away to make a snide comment to any and every question these days, I remember the start of the season he was a joker and all smiles
-
Don't believe that article at all, but because of all the talk about losing Bruno/Isak, I never thought of who our 3rd most valuable player is, and I think that is Gordon
Guess the journalists are sick of mentioning Bruno and Isak!

Yeah exactly. And I wouldn't want/expect us to spend like they are in the Saudi leagues, spending a billion on Vinicius Jnr etc
But it would be nice to be in a position where we can CONSIDER buying the Olise, Sesko, Marmadashvili's etc of the world like all the top 6 clubs can, every single season, rather than (I'm assuming here) targeting the Traffords and Calvert Lewis of the world
