Michael Essien out for the season apparently. Big injuy in training. Wouldn't surprise me if that's the end of his Chelsea career.

Aye, after his first big injury, he really hasn't been the same player that Chelsea initially signed. Now that this new injury has come along, Chelsea might as well look at other players.

Essien the last years does his best to match hargreaves. Sad really, he is a brilliant footballer, with the knees of a 80 year old :(

Cannavaro, Nesta, Maldini. Such superb defenders. Zambrotta to complete the defence is a rather decent addition too.

I'm sure someone else can elaborate but the death of an Italian generation? Pirlo, Gattuso, Del Piero, Inzaghi, Totti all on their last legs.

Aye, all incredible players. Loved watching Cannavaro and Pirlo in particular. Some of them were almost mythical characters growing up.

Gattuso doesn't deserve to be in that selection.

I'm not saying they're all equal, but he deserves to be mentioned. The point is an awful lot of big names are retiring at a similar time.

:nope:

Gattuso is gradually losing it but that year AC Milan won the Champions League in 2007, he was immense imo.

Pretty much the only period of his entire career where he was as good as his reputation suggests.
