NUFC transfer rumours in the press

Recommended Posts

Given that he was just about the most in-form striker in the league when he got injured, it would be madness to contemplate selling him.

You can NAAHT be serious.

What isn't serious?

What you've just said - Leon Best as the most in-form striker in the league.

You obviously see something in him that I don't. Journeyman centre-forward who's not going to progress beyond the level he's on now.

Who was then? When he got that goal against Everton he had 6 in 9 or something like that. What I 'see' in him doesn't come into it.

Can we not just make a "shit bets between users" thread?

Log in expecting (fuck knows why) to see some progress on the transfer field and instead I'm treated to this guff. Howay man.

 yawn

Well perhaps there was a period when statistically he was the most prolific striker, but that could have been said in the past of such luminaries as James Beattie and Mick Quinn.

Anyway, it looks like he's up for sale for about £4m and so far, no takers.

Oh does it, thanks for that.

James Beattie proved himself to be a sub-standard PL striker over time. Best has shown nothing but promise so far in his short PL career.

You just dislike for the sake of it. Same with Coloccini.

QI told me the actual number of the devil is 616. You're so mainstream Dave.

Dave is factalicious.

God, I hate lulls in the transfer window.  :dave:

Lull?  Lull?  How can you say it is a lull?  More like a temporary lack of movement if you ask me...

glad you took that as intended  O0

You often bring up this idea that there's some odd motivation behind someone's viewpoint.

It's just an opinion. You rate Best. I don't.

There's got to be motivational behind not rating someone with 6 goals in 10 starts. What more can you ask of a striker?

I wouldn't say it's motivational - he probably just doesn't rate him as a striker. It's all about personal preference at the end of the day.

Best stepped up last season, when the majority had already wrote him off.

I don't think we'll really know if he's consistently good enough at this level until he's played more games. As there's still some attributes to his general play that aren't that good.

Still, you certainly can't fault his attitude.

Best has the footwork of a lower division player so I can understand why people don't rate him. He looks positively clumsy at times. He does know where the goal is though and puts them away if the cameo from last season was anything to go by. I'd rather have him as a back up striker than Shola.
