Hanshithispantz
It was never a red like, even a yellow was contentious, it's not like he went in with any real force or conviction and lunged at Fletcher in any way. Idiotic for Pardew to come out and agree with the decision though in any case, as there was certainly a big chance of it being turned around with an appeal. colinmk
Gotta love this reaction of sell him because of his aggression. Don't try and resolve the situation through better coaching or anything, sell him. Just saw Venkmans, posts on previous page, agree entirely.
Hanshithispantz
Also the bloke is an absolute beast on his day, we shouldn't sell the guy because he's just picked up his first league red card in 2 years.

Hanshithispantz
There was a massive chance it could have been turned around, it's possibly one of the softest cases of violent conduct I've seen. And he was daft against Nowrich, other than that he's just been the usual Tiote, he's no worse than Cabaye in the nutter stakes.

I don't think there is any chance especially since the media have said it's a red card. I still think it's 50/50, if a Sunderland player did that to us then quite a few would want a red for it. oldtype
A different ref wouldn't have given a red, but Tiote's got no business keeping his foot in taking a gigantic lunge after the whistle has gone. He knows he has a reputation, he needs to be more careful. It's as simple as that.
The College Dropout
While he needs to reign it in you have to take the good with the bad with players like him.

Agreed. And if he tries the defence (that seems quite popular) that he didn't see the other guy then the punishment if likely to be doubled.

nufc4eva
We look much tougher in the centre with him in it, yes he has been a bit of a liability so far but fuck me people wanting Perch to start instead of him need to have a think. When he is in the team he covers that midfield and is so valuable winning the ball back for us really. Yes Perch has been decent but the midfield does not look anywhere near as solid with him there. Remember when Tiote was out and everyone was crying for him to be back. It will be the same after the next 3 games
Guest neesy111
Tiote shouldn't be guaranteed a starting place, like no one in the team. Perch deserves a good run for his form in CM.

toon25
I'm more astonished that people think whatever money we'd get from his sale would be put straight back in to the transfer pot to buy replacements tbh.
Guest firetotheworks
The whole thing with Tiote and Perch is about form, not ability. Perch's form is much better than Tiote's at the moment, it's undeniable.
Nobody
Fucking hell man, people aren't half overrating Perch if they say he can do as good a job in midfield as Tiote. This feels just like early in the year, people were saying that Guthrie had been better than Cabaye. As for people calling him a liability because he got sent off yesterday, it's not his fucking fault that the ref sees something that's not there. It's not a lunge, he's ever so slightly late because he's being held back. He is fully focused on the ball, there is absolutely no aggression from him at all. The College Dropout
Tiote shouldn't be guaranteed a starting place, like no one in the team. Perch deserves a good run for his form in CM. Unfortunately, this is bullshit. Perch passing isn't Premiership CM quality. Especially in a 4-4-2 it's a terrible idea. Actually terrible. Good article on Cabaye/Tiote http://fourfourtwo.com/blogs/statszone/archive/2012/10/05/tiote-and-cabaye-find-the-perfect-balance-as-newcastle-look-to-repeat-history.aspx We simply do not have the quality to drop either Cabaye or Tiote for anything more than 1 game as a kick up the arse. Perch is never a Premiership quality CM starter. Bigi & Anita have more potential in that role long-term.

What do you think the club has been doing for the last 2 years since he's been here then? It's only his second red. Granted he's been on a thin line quite a few times but that's ow it goes in centre mid, he's hardly a scumbag like cattermole
Benwell Lad
I really think it's time that Pardew worked on toning down the "warrior" image and the hype that surrounds Tiote. It's become counter productive and has most refs just waiting to card him. Take examples like Scott Parker, excellent and effective in that role but with the appearance of a 14 year old schoolboy. Even Cattermole who really is a dirty player, and frankly I've never seen him play a game where he would have stayed on the pitch if it was refereed properly, is quite cute with referees. Tiote needs to wisen up a bit.
