Just got BT Sport through work. Christ I'm depressed. It's shit.

It only exists to carry the selection of PL games really.

I think their coverage of other leagues is pretty good actually.

The Danny Simpson of physios:

What's the proper refereeing for this? IIRC the ref can't do nothing if external objects/people disturb the match (like that beach ball in the Sunderland-Liverpool game) since he can't send them off or award a penalty.

Rules according to the BBC say it should had been a drop ball in the beach ball game:

BBC are right. Should have stopped play immediately, removed the 'outside agent' and start again with a drop ball.

This can be done right up until the conceding team kicks off again.

Just been watching the San Lorenzo game from Sunday, some interesting items thrown at the referee after a controversial winning goal included a pink lunchbox, a pair of Adidas trainers and what looked like a Mr. Potato Head toy. Plus the usual lighters and coins.

I was impressed.

Maybe their owner should head down pitch side and pick it up so that the next time they want a player they can bid more than fuck all?

What's this? Someone in the England setup blaming anybody but themselves??

"In our wildest dreams do you honestly think that England or any nation in the world can turn up at a major tournament without six or seven – I think there were eight players with senior international caps – who could have played for the England Under-21s this summer?" he told Sky Sports. "The odd one was injury, [but] apathy played a big part of it – the Oxlade-Chamberlains of this world, the Phil Joneses, because they didn't want to come. Once they go through the golden ivory towers of the seniors they don't want to come and play with the Under-21s any more.

Even if he has a point, I cannot take anyone seriously who pluralizes individual names/clubs like that. Get the fuck out.

Aye, it's not like people like Isco, Thiago, De Gea, etc... who've been through the same "ivory towers" didn't play a blinder in the same tournament.

It's your fucking job to motivate your players, Pearce.

Some Norwegian players were actually genuinly upset they missed out on the first group match due to having to play a full International and asked if they could miss it (they couldn't though). Shittest excuse ever.

He's always refused to answer/dodged the question.

Quite amazed that Zlatan still carries such a huge grudge against Pep after just one year working together

Looks like Valencias new stadium is currently taking shape.

Didn't realise they'd got funding again?

Andy Carroll staying 'open minded' about future after injury

11 Sep 2013 12:40

The Chronicle understands that Geordie boy Carroll is staying "open minded" about the future after enduring an achilles injury in training

Andy Carroll will jet out to see a Dutch specialist tomorrow to determine how long he will be on the sidelines.

The Chronicle understands that Geordie boy Carroll is staying "open minded" about the future after enduring an achilles injury in training.

Carroll will learn more about the injury he picked up in training but West Ham United have sent him for the best treatment available in Europe.

His absence could have big ramifications for both West Ham and England with Carroll's dream of playing at the World Cup in Brazil - should the Three Lions qualify - very much on the line.

The top Dutch surgeon will examine the damage check whether the potential tendon damage can heal naturally on Carroll's right foot or he requires an operation.

Carroll's chances of recovery have already been written off today with many forecasting he may be out for the season.

However, depending on what the Dutch specialists advise Carroll could yet appear again before the end of the season.

Victims of an achilles injury could recover between six and 12 months depending on the individual.

The Hammers swooped for free agent Mladen Petric this week as cover for the ex-Newcastle United man.

Wasn't there a thread somewhere for stupid football related questions? Can't seem to find it.

Anyway I've been wondering for quite a while if Eden Hazard is ethnicly Belgian or if he is a son of immigrants. Not that it matters obviously.
