Martin Dúbravka (now playing for Tottenham Hotspur)

Are Spurs fans not a bit worried going into the season with Kinsky as first choice? He's looked absolutely cack whenever I've seen him play.

Not super stressed. There’s a reasonable argument to be made for him being the key figure in keeping us up, and to be that good for the last few games after the disaster in Madrid is astonishing, really. People were talking about it being a career-threatening game.

He’s better than Vicario in the air and one of the best goalkeepers you will see on the ground. Concerns over things like foot positioning for saves but presumably he will work on that - and his save against Leeds was miraculous. We’re hoping he can take his form into the next season and keep growing.

He was brilliant for his first couple of games under Ange then struggled, which I presume is when you saw him. Hopefully what we’re seeing now is

him growing into the role. We need to spend the money elsewhere tbh. If it doesn’t work out this year we’ll be getting in another keeper.

Fair enough, I probably saw him 5 or 6 times, one of which was the Atletico game and the other in the cup at SJP when he flew out and missed the ball for our second goal.

Did you get rid of that ultra hipster keeper you had for ages?

Yeah, I think the general feeling is that he’s earned the chance with his performances in those last games and the flaws are ones that will be ironed out in time. Also he is so obviously a perfect keeper for RDZ.

'Ex-Man United goalkeeper'.... 'former Man Utd Veteran'.... WTF???

I mean, he made 2 appearances for them in the four month loan he was there??!!

Turns out it was a good loan move for him and his agent after all.

More good news for Spurs too, having taken a veteran who played for a 'rival'.

In fairness, they were rivals of a sort in 24/25.

Why?

He can be an OK back up keeper, but past his best here by the time he left. When he first came in he made a huge positive difference to us.

Not great on crosses, and not really suited to the system we moved to when the difference with Pope coming in was huge, so he rapidly dropped down the pecking order. But even so, there were times last season when I'd have probably preferred him to Ramsdale.

As a free I don't think it's really that odd. You'd just hope not to have to play him that much if that's not being unfair to him, in my opinion. Actually don't much know how he did at Burnley.

Edit, just read him described as a reliable shot stopper for Burnley, but presumably that's in the context of the number of shots he'll have faced there. I don't know, well past his best but maybe doesn't seem that much of a risk as a back up keeper on a free anyway.

Quite. He’s an experienced and decent back-up keeper on a free, which is what we want. I’m not sure why anyone would think it’s a strange choice.

Strange signing.

Is it?

he’s as good a backup/third choice you’ll get and he’s free.

I was a critic of his towards the end of his time here but we’d have been better off keeping him for another season in hindsight.

Letting him go and replacing him with someone really expensive but worst was indeed a choice
