The elites have won. Fucking joke that.

How many clubs survived because of cup replays? There’s probably a few in the PL right now (Luton, Brighton, Bournemouth?)

It really feels like the top clubs have put their deviousness into overdrive recently. Especially since the ESL fell through.

That is an absolutely terrible change.

They've kept replays in the early rounds where they are of little benefit to lower league clubs who suffer from fixture congestion/midweek travelling anyway, but got rid of them in the later rounds where they actually benefit said clubs [emoji38]

It should literally be the other way around.

Big Geordie

Awful decision. What's next - guaranteed home draws for the Big 6 clubs, for every round up to the semi-final?

There's too many games for top level players these days, especially those that compete in 1 league, 2 domestic cups, 1 european cup + international games.

Something has to be done to reduce that amount. Not sure this is the way to go though.

Aye but you have to have BT/TNT to watch the FA Cup from next season in anyway.

Will be the same as what it was a few year back when it was split between free to air tv and sky

Then the following year all on tnt/bt whatever its called but the final needs to be free

Heard of reserves?

I agree that there’s something fundamentally broken about the level of football played currently and the volume of it. Really don’t know what could be done though. Reduce the number of clubs in each league? That would be disastrous for lots of clubs but better for most players I guess

Having 25 man squads and free use of U21s would help.

Wilder is on SSN and has absolutely nailed-it - superb comments!

The big boys get what the big boys want and they don't want Cup replays" mentioned about how it'll starve lower league clubs of a glamor away trip and a potential huge pay off etc - brilliant listen!

Any option for the lower team to request to switch to away if they wanted?

That’s what I was thinking. Certainly League1 and below.

By 6-7 of the richest clubs in the world.

Aye, its the players not quite good enough that rarely get any playing time despite how many games the better players have played.

Both club and international managers feel obligated to field their best team due to being judged on results.

Fans expectations in general is that managers should field the best available team in all competitions.

It is starting to burn out more and more players, and some players ruin their career due to it.

I'd prefer to scrap one of the international breaks to help avoid fixture congestion, and scrap the league cup entirely as a starting point.

And 10 minutes of extra time....
