Germany's a hard one. Klinsmann was my favourite player as a kid so I went for him, probably now it's Kroos.

Having lots of poachers like Raul, Inzaghi and Klose is interesting. I used to love strikers but would always pick a creator these days.

There's no way Messi hasn't done that. Maybe Inzaghi was the only one before then.

Edit: he has. And he did it consecutively

Explains why that question hasn't popped up again then

Big Geordie

Apparently one of our ex on-loan midfielders, Nabil Bentaleb has suffered a heart attack. He now plays at Lille.

I wish him a full and speedy recovery

Describing Raul as a poacher doesn't do him justice imo.

I tend to romanticize 90's grafters/obelisks way too much

Italy: Maldini

France: Desailly

Spain: Hierro

Holland: Davids
Germany: Effenberg
Brazil: Ronaldo

Argentina: Batistuta

If I’m going Germany, it’s gonna be all goalkeepers. Kopke, Kahn, Neaur. Not Lehmann, though, too rash.

Ghandis Flip-Flop

If we're talking favourite German players, I’ll have to show my age and say Matthias Sammer. The guy was an absolute machine for Dortmund and Germany back in the mid 90’s

They had a wealth of excellent all-round midfielders at that time. Sammer, Effenberg, Hässler, Matthäus, Hamann, Möller, Jeremies, Scholl comes to mind.
