In the 90's there was a show called Goal which showed all the goals of a round.

Haha I thought u meant the film "Goal!"......

Yes, it was a weekly program that showed all the goals scored in the premier league that week. Another source of footy matches was BBC Radio live (remember there was no fucking internet back then!).

  2. The 1993/94 season when we were back in the premiership under KK.

I was a teenager back then, and we had a one-hour TV program on Premiership games every Saturday (I am from Hong Kong). Somehow I fell in love with the team because of the way they played and the passion of the Geordies. The rest is history.....

See but it undermines all the work Howe has done.

In January, he made a big point about not wanting to upset the dressing room when it came to new signings. He wanted the right characters, not any old sod that would come for a paycheck. I do believe a big reason we've seen an uptick in form is because those players are now far more together and willing to fight for each other. The team overall is far more organised tactically, but below that is a series of partnerships working together. The midfield right now has a lovely balance between Joelinton's ball-winning, Willock crashing the box, and Shelvey orchestrating things. What message does it send if you parachute Bruno in when the team is winning and all three are doing what's asked? You might as well pick the eleven most expensive players at that point.

Howe has inspired a fair few that looked ready for the scrapheap. To ruin that dynamic now just because you think Bruno is a better player is sacrificing so much more.

Very well said. And this is probably what Howe has been thinking too.

Not an easy job to be honest, but we just have to trust our gaffer.

After months of discussions with interested parties, Newcastle United Supporters Trust (NUST) is launching the 'Yes We Can' Campaign which aims to raise funds to lead a fans buy out at St James' Park. The Trust will be revealing partners over the coming days but has in place a buy out structure led by local firms and renowned names in the financial world.

The Trust is mailing out to over 40,000 supporters to ask them if and how they want to buy into the campaign to lead a city-wide bid to buy back the club.

There are a number of ways supporters can buy into the model which has been dubbed by the financial community as the 'Barcelona on the Tyne' which would see a 'democratisation' of the club to ensure that the current state of the club would not be repeated.

The idea is based on fans investing in the club through a number of financial opportunities which will be held by a local solicitors in an Escrow account to demonstrate to Ashley that the fans have 'proof of funds'. Supporters will be asked to pledge 10% of their investment into this account which would be returned if the bid was unsuccessful.

It is believed that this is the first stage of a 6 week campaign including advertisements, the opening of an advice shop in central Newcastle and the unveiling of high profile backers.

  5. i feel worst for the overseas fans, they're well and truly f***ed now. i imagine our global fan base will shrink by a sizeable amount, maybe by a third, and it'll take some over-achievement akin to the Robson years to ever recover our global standing. you did a great job cutting costs mike, also managed to slash our income too, nice one.

I am Chinese, born and bred in HK. No matter how shit the players are and whichever league we are in, I am a Toon fan forever. The thing is, I need to sort out how I can watch the Championship games next season.

  6. Do you know where I can find these photos besides from Getty Images? Want to see how Big Al celebrated with the players on the pitch after the game. The TV broadcast here stopped almost immediately after the whistle.
