Gordon, Wilson, Miggy for me. Wilson has bullied Mings quite regularly when we’ve played them - assuming Mings starts.

It’s going to be a really hard game. I don’t think any team outplayed us quite as badly as Villa last season. Diaby looks a problem too.

Villa will be a really tuff test. But cant help to feel that the game last season at their place and the talk before this season are a little bit excessively. For this game though, the home advantage will be huge for us.

Isak starts for me every time. And I really hope to see Barnes a lot too tonight. To boost Gordons confidence after a really good summer I would problably start him, aswell as Anderson. Hard work should pay off!

It's probably already been mentioned, but we really need to address the lack of pace at the back.

Agree. Hate to see Burn at lb, he´s just to slow for me!

  3. Tbh I think Big Joe can get a hard time getting in to the team. I mean look at Miley(!) and the potential of Tonali (beside of Bruno etc). For all the running he does, Joelinton seems to struggle in possession and lost the ball quite a fair bit. Yes I know the steel he brings. but to be fair, do he has a place in our best line up?

We seems to want to be more in controll of the ball this year and that not really his strength. Can he still be part of the first team and take us to the next level?

Maybe the fact the first didn't happen has helped with the second? Maybe he's benefitted more under Howe's coaching methods than he would have done playing for Preston?

I think the new way to do it is to keep the prospects around. Players that get sent out on loan usually get sold later on. Better to drill them in your team with good coaching.

If we’re not in for Diaby it’s because we don’t want him, just need to trust the recruitment staff in whatever process they’re going through.

I watched him a few times last season and can´t say i´m that impressed with him. Really think we can find something better, and it´s looks like we thinks that too.

yup, I take that you are not agreeing. and that's just another opinion too really. it would though be more interesting to know why instead of this reply.

It’s becoming a bit of a strange situation where new elite players are joining the club, they meet Trippier who is captain but not captain, and then there is this guy at training who never plays who is the real captain.

to be honest I will have lost a lot of respect for Lascelles if he is still here in September and hasn’t resigned the club captaincy.

Yeah, at this stage its very weird. Just make Tripper the captain! We´re literally trying to sell Lascelles anyway

Let me rephrase it then. Like I said, you need skill. And the best teams have players that got that. But you need to be effective. I would say that  football intelligence is way more important, and being effecitve. Maxi is none of that. And ya, he dosent really play anyway.

I would take Barnes every day over Maxi. I´m sure Howe would do that too.

  9. To be honest, I get quite anoyed about this Maxi love that keep poping up. Regardless of Barnes I would drive Maxi myself to whatever. He makes us a worse team and we can bebetter of him. Flair? thats not a thing in the 20s. just look at Man City. You need the skillset but the output and efficenty is way more important. being a selfish player and your out from City. Should be the same here.

There was one where an NUFC fan tweeted him and asked him for any Newcastle related news, and he replied with something like (and I'm paraphrasing) "Keep an eye on Chiesa", possibly with the wink emoji at the end. I can't say for sure but i think the deal is basically done

Not sure about done, but he really seems to be the one we want.

    Barnes doesn’t ?

was going to say the same. feels like the perfect Howe player, and at this point I think he would be terrific! compare to the rest of our RW/LW he´s a goal and assist machine, me like :)
