What the actual fuck is the fascination with Jack Clark, I'm no super scout but he's just a bang average wide forward isn't he ?

40 games last year and 4 assists!! And that makes your best 11 ffs

aye, ahead of johnson and downing?

  2. nah come on, we're not a charity. surely we can negoatitate a couple of million - or more if its staggered payments over 3 years or so.

    we need every penny.

Need to be backed better in the transfer window this summer.

going to struggle clearing some of the deadwood unless we try giving them away

Did we need to buy Targett? After his loan spell he has hardly features, we played Burn there, and bought Hall in during the summer.

Burn did ok for about 6 months, since then people have regularly and I say fairly criticised him. Is he a long term option for us? I don’t think he is.

Wood, again we sold him as soon as we could, he was never going to be a long term option, and I don’t think he gave us anything we couldn’t have got elsewhere.

If we get a new goalkeeper, then Pope will surely be off. I can’t see him being happy to sit on the bench. Would we not have been better off buying that 1st choice keeper sooner instead of getting Pope?

Barnes wasn’t really needed when we bought Gordon 6 months beforehand, and RW is a massive weak spot for us.

we did at the time and the vast majority of fans were desperate to get him signed on. fucked with injuries.

at the time we needed burn and his level of player... he was never going to be long term hence us trying to bring in more defenders now. we were in a relegation battle.

again desperate for another striker due to the situation we were in. we got our money back.

Pope... we never knew he was gonna dislocate his shoulder. and at the time he was the best we could get for the price.

Barnes is decent back up. may be they culdnt get the quality RW that we needed, or we couldnt persuade them to come.

i think the recruitment has been fine.

no club ever gets a 100% hit rate but we've come close to it.

    you're just so impatient.

we need to make changes gradually and also according to the financial and footballing position we find ourselves in. we might have gone for players but been turned down due to geography, wages or any number of things.

Even though today was disappointing, and it robs us of a European place that is usually the reward for our placing, the club really does need to have a difficult look this summer, which is what they need to do every summer really.

We are now 2 seasons into the 5 year plan to win something, and cups aside, we are not within 3 years of competing.

Our squad isn’t good enough, and we have arguably spent too much on positions that were not really a priority over places that need urgent attention.

The RW position has been a problem since before the takeover and is still a problem now. We need to take a long hard look at our injuries as well, the season before this one was probably an anomaly in lack of injuries for us. Something is a miss with our medical or physio department.

We need to start getting our gaps filled. We can’t keep getting stop gap players like Wood, Burn, and if we get a new keeper, then I’ll include Pope in that.

On a wider aspect, the club need to start making decisions on what’s happening both with SJP, and the training ground, and communicate that with the fans.

I touched on it a bit in the transfer thread earlier as well, but the club possibly need to weigh up the pro’s and cons of taking a hit on going over budget and setting our squad up for the long term with a points deduction for 1 season, a la Everton, and Wolves.

We probably also need to be a bit more ruthless going for sponsorships. We need that training kit deal etc.

Sooner or later we need to make those massive steps, and I honestly think it needs to be this summer. We have Man Utd who despite winning today, are probably the worst Man Utd side since before SAF, a Liverpool team who will be on the transition, a Chelsea team who keep shooting themselves in the foot with hiring and sacking managers, a Spurs team who going through a biannual tradition of being decent, and then tailing off, and an Aston Villa side wanting to break into that group of clubs alongside ourselves. We really need to put our foot in the door and force our way in, and shut it ahead of anyone.

    not sure about that.

we now have an excellent RB, LB with potential, decent keeper, 2 international central midfielders, Botman , world class striker and soon to be world class attacker in Gordon.

we needed to spend big on tripps, burn, wood, targett at the time also

  6. surely this must have been agreed before the trip.

one game with the big names involved, but the second with kids.

otherwise there would have been hell on from the organisers.

    £2.5m?

  7. this is purely based on ffp requirements to allow us to push on.

where else are gonna find buyers for some of our players.

not convinced ipswich offer £21 for miggy nor leeds with longstaff.

    need to sacrifice a porple.
