  1. He may be a poor manager but that is simply because he isn't one. He hasn't asked to be in charge of the team, and I think your being harsh with that description of him. It's not his fault he's had to cover for our ill/stroppy/banned managers when they've pissed off. Hughton seems to work so f***ing hard for this club, he's been employed doing caretaker care quite a lot, it seems to be just him and Kinnear doing training, and he seems to be getting a raw deal. Has he complained? Has he hell, he's gotten on with the job. I agree with the fact he's poor at managing the team, but now he's broken his duck, and also with Calderwood on board (managerial experience, albeit at a lower level) I'm not as pessimistic as some. Regardless of what division we're in next season, Hughton deserves a f***ing massive bonus and a medal. I agree. It's not his fault at all, I can't be upset at him at all. He's not a manager, he's just doing the best he can quietly, he's done nothing wrong with the roles he set out for and wasn't forced into. But once again, the board sets him up to fail with one of these "we'll see how it goes, we have this other savior in the wings at the first sign of a loss" things that totally undermines him. Doomed to fail at this point, and it's not his fault at all. Either get someone in immediately, or make a commitment through this season so that he has a chance to succeed. Obviously, I'd prefer to bring someone else in immediately, but if they don't want to do that for whatever reason, then at least give him a real shot!
  2. He's having a solid game. Even with Butt's travails, we are really dominating in midfield, very much so because of Nolan.
  3. I agree, it looks like Bassong keeps pushing them up and we don't have the pace if we get it wrong. They are clearly not all on the same page on the trap they want to run, what with Bassong yelling at Jose all the time. Hopefully that gets sorted out at halftime.
  4. It was denied by Owen last week. Well, you're probably right. The rumor was mentioned by Warren Barton, so either he's very behind/out of the loop on his rumors, or he's just throwing flames on the fire to get some rumors with "big names" that US fans would recognize.
  5. rumor on Fox Soccer Channel here in the US that there's a chance Owen going to the MLS to replace beckham. They don't tend to talk too much out of their ass and tend to mention only realistic rumors, but they did state that it's only a whisper of a possibility at the moment, nothing more yet.
  6. doubtful. With Torres seemingly getting back into form, they look the more dangerous team to compete again. Have to figure their recent dip won't last forever, and ManU can't continue clean sheets forever. Would figure ManU would want as much room as possible between them and everyone.
  7. so riley somehow calls a red on lampard when in great position, but misses that one? wtf
  8. Soft penalty, but it was a definitely a penalty nonetheless. In the box, but only a yard or two inside the box, and tripped up for sure, but only just by an unintentional clip of the heels. How come that kind of thing never happens to us?
  9. unbelievable wigan goalline clearances in the last 5 minutes. wowwwww
  10. While we were at it, we've already conceded 3 to the mackems this upcoming weekend for good measure.
  11. Ah, that explains why that pig was flying by my window just a second ago.
