  1. Very relieved he's gone. Simply not good enough.

Shola is way better than him, and thats saying something.

I know its about opinion but no way is he like for me. Sibierski was much better and I'd rather he was playing instead of Ameobi. Fact is, he can link things up, he's great with his head and simply has good control unlike Shola. I reckon people forget how bad he is when he's injured for a bit, its like Dyer. Shola simply cant link the play up, cant head the ball, cant shoot, he's bloody terrible and it was such a relief when he was out for the rest of last season.

  2. Baines, Campbell & Ben Haim plus a solid rightback and were laughing.

If we could get Viduka on a free as well this could turn out to be an excellent 07/08 season.

    Solano?

Not the best for an away day.

Maybe the odd game, but overall thats a bit harsh imo. In fact, I'd say we need someone like him with his determination & intelligence at RB for away days, he showed up al of his fellow defenders. Remember his gola-line clearnce v Spurs right before Berbatov scored? He's up for the fight dont worry about that, and not many players at all had the beating of him. And his calmness and quality on the ball is invaluable at a time when we need to keep the ball for a bit and make sure its not coming straight back at us.

  3. -------------shay--------------

    solano--cambell--Ben Haim---Bridge

    Milner---Sidwell---Dyer----Duff

    ----------Anelka----Owen----

    Subs:

    Martins, Butt, Taylor, Zoggy, Krul

Yes, I am on class A drugs!!!

We need to get rid of Dyer, he dosent do the business, and plays so half heartedly. I cant believe how Dyer can still be seen in a good light in any nufc fans' eyes, if he was a foreigner he'd have been hounded out by now thats for sure. Sidwell would be a pointless buy imo, no better than Butt or Parker when Ive seen him anyway, we need to buy a centre mid with much more creative flair to play next to Butt imo. Anelka would be good, especially seen as though Allardyce managed him last season.

  4. Beckham should have been dropped, but he shouldn't have been left out McClaren's call-ups.

It was the easy thing to do at the time, Beckham coming in for a lot of criticism, Sven was criticised for not dropping star players, team picked itself etc. McClaren dropped Beckham for his own gains without any real thought for the future in my opinion to try and create a sense that he is a manager who won't take any crap.

The media will have a field day if he recalls Beckham. Funny how in recent England games there were chants for Beckham to be recalled when it was only a few months previous most England fans were on his back

Yup, publicity stunt really. Should have dropped him from the team not squad. and like someone aaid, the real issue is dropping either Gerrard or Lampard and he's hidden from it, should blatently be Lampard though.

  5. I see Aruna Kone play every week and he's a decent player but not a great player. He's a very poor finisher, not what we need IMO.

    Fair enough ...

The thing is though ... we could do with some 'decent' players at this club.

We have "decent" players in Shola and Carroll. What we need is proven goalscorers.

Thats bieng very kind, he shouldnt be anywhere near the team next season.

  6. And on Wednesday we have Gullit & Souness in the studio...should be fun!

They are actually good pundits though.

    Souness! Souness!

Seriously though your right, and how annoying is Jamie Redknapp? Rabbit Rabbit, babbling on coming out with every cliche you can use and licking the top teams' arses.

  7. Owen would be my choice if he were to stay, for three reasons:

    - Only outfield player we have who will always start when fit, regardless of form. Giving the likes of Butt, Parker, Emre, Dyer, Nobby, etc, the captaincy would be pointless as all of them could and should be dropped if in poor form. They should be considered squad players, able to be rotated - making one of them captain would just make it needlessly hard to drop them.

    - Tons of experience. European player of the year, top international forward, etc.

    - Like Beckham being handed the captaincy, it could be a good political move. Ie, maybe making Owen captain will motivate him to stay at the club, or to take us more seriously than he previously did (no fannying around here, his priority was to be in top shape for England/WC, and to use us as a stepping stone to a CL club).

Obviously, im ignoring the downsides, ie of him not being a natural leader, acting like a mercenary t*** at the moment, clearly wanting out, regularly being injured (might change under Allardyce, who knows), etc.

But I do think the dishing out of the captains armband is a good chance to hand a psychological advantage to a player who needs it. As an example, maybe Taylor would be another choice? Granted hes too young and has alot to learn, but maybe this would be the big incentive he needs to push him onto the right road?

And it also needs to be questioned if a natural leader needs to be captain anyway. Theyll still lead on the pitch regardless of whether they have a piece of cloth around their arm or not - Woodgate was a big leader for us on the pitch when he was here, it didnt matter that Shearer had the armband, he still controlled and inspired those around him.

So I vote for a "political" captain to be appointed, prefferably Owen. And definately not Dyer, which is clearly what Roeder tried to do (linked to Spurs, reportedly unhappy, so Roeder gives him the armband in the next game).

You never know whats going to happen really, but is it not safe to say that Butt & Solano are consistant enough performers and in general you wouldnt want them out the team too much?

  8. Solano for me.

Spent so long at the club he's like an adapoted Geordie, and is a leader on the pitch - not your 'mad man' type - but you do see him guiding others and giving out instructions, aswell as leading by his quality play. 110% committed & is a top professional.

  9. I find it funny that everyone is talking about BSA picking up old knackers on the cheap and turning them good, then in the next breath expecting him to get rid of the likes of Carr, Parker, Emre, Owen, Duff... They're all players who have talent but have simply lost form - tthe same type of player everyone seems set on us signing. Surely he should start there first.

No reason to get rid of them in my opinion.

no need to get rid of Carr, what are you kidding me?

At least Carr’s proved himself to be a quality right back in the past... and he plays in a position where we need players. It makes far more sense to me to let Sam have a go at turning him around than it does to buy “our version of Diouf” Cisse, or  any of useless mongs that people on here keep suggesting for the sole purpose of letting Allardyce resurrect their careers.... we have plenty of our own that he could do that with already.

We’re not Bolton... he can either give new life to the players we already have or buy quality replacements.

Even if he chooses the latter option, we can’t afford/don’t have time to bring in enough quality players... so we’d need to hang on to more than a few of those we’d rather left. I expect Carr to be one of them.

If Carr is ever ever picked at RB ahead of Nobby itd be a disgrace. I'd be tempted to play Edgar at RB if Solano is injured anytime allowing us to sell Carr, he has been so bad its untrue, his body language is a disgrace, a lot of times he seems to like to just stand still on the ball with his arms in the air wanting a pass throwing a huff, make something happen yourself you fat b*stard.

  10. We should just sell Dyer, I really hope it happens. He just lives on his reputation from 4-5 years ago, if Spurs want him let him go there. We need to buy a centre mid to play alongside Butt for me, although it depends what formation Big Sam plays. Also it depends how he deals with Emre - if he plays him and plays his further forward, not sitting on the bloody half way line, then Emre-Butt could be quality.

  12. NUFC.com using the Bramble release as another chance to have a dig at Allardyce?

Confirmation from the club came on Wednesday that a back five of Pavel Srnicek, Olivier Bernard, Craig Moore, Titus Bramble and loanee Oguchi Onyewu had all now left United.

Four of those departures come as no surprise but the Bramble exit was less predictable.

A large number of Newcastle fans will be pleased to see the back of Titus after his countless number of cock-ups which have cost us games.

However, whose decision was it for Bramble to go? All we can assume is that his exit was well underway before Sam Allardyce arrived, or even before Glenn Roeder "resigned".

Big Sam announced on Tuesday that "everyone starts with a clean slate" so if it was his decision (and he was at York races on Wednesday) then what did Titus do to blot his copybook in less than 24 hours?

Perhaps the boos of the Blackburn game had persuaded the player to go but that seems unlikely given the regime change.

Whatever, a 25-year old potential England defender (on his day he could be superb) that cost us £4.5m has walked away for nowt.

If Allardyce's psychological expertise is all it's cracked up to be then surely he could have cured Bramble's concentration problems? Or at least had one more go.

A rotten bit of management by whoever was responsible....

3 different managers and coaching teams (including the latter being a pair of former centre halves) haven't been able to help Titus erradicate the concentration lapses and mistakes, so why do they think Allardyce and a Psychologist may be able to??

And as for him going for nowt - who seriously has offered us any money for him over the last 4/5 years???

    MJ

You just cant win can you, he gets slated so much and people demand him out yet when he goes its a rotten peice of management, sad sly dig at big sam

  13. Boring, I reckon we shaded that, there were a couple other penalty appeals, the handball one in the second half after the goal, where it seemed the whole of the Vic shouted, but Rob f****** Styles saw nothing.

Best bit was the end, and Foster got a brilliant standing ovation and countless applause during the lap of 'honour'.

Ramage was your only player that really impressed me, Ameobi looked like a heap of s****.

Please can we just sell Ramage. Not drop or loan out, or have him fight for his place, sell him/

  14. Fair do's you dont really know how it is behind the scenes but imo hes got every right to be pissed off with things this season - arguably our best player last season and hardly gets a look in this season and in the end Pattison is played ahead of him today. Signing Duff to give him some competition wasnt a bad thing as long as Duff was dropped if he was off form for a canny bit, but he was never dropped!
