Genuinely can't believe how wound up some people get about transfer rumours or otherwise when it's from someone that might have heard something. It's ridiculous.

The Rumour part should tell you everything you need to know.

A rumour is a story or piece of information that may or may not be true, but that people are talking about

Last summer’s transfer window and his appointment of the physiotherapy and medical science teams are questions for me.

Wish I had a job where no-one got to question performance for five years.

I'm not in a position where I know his job and functions, so cannot criticise. Not sure how anybody can outside of the board of directors and owners.

They’re being investigated for breaches during Abramovich's time found by Boehley's lot when going through the books. Given they’ve found wrongdoing themselves and have fessed up, surely they have to receive some sort of punishment? They might be pushing for leniency given change in ownership and honesty, but given the recent punish, ents doled out, they can’t get off Scot free.

Surely they're screwed in general soon too, if they don’t get back into the CL soon too I’d imagine

It was the Cyprus confidential that unearth the dodgy third party dealings, Chelsea just tried to get in before them to save face and perhaps sway it a bit there way.

"Under the league’s PSR, clubs are allowed to lose a maximum of £105million ($134m) or £35m per season over a rolling three-year reporting cycle."

I'm one who hasn't really studied the FFP rules that much. Does this mean that our £74m loss is nothing to worry about, since a new cycle will now begin and the calculation will start from scratch?

Nope that lost is only over a 1 year period, it’s a 3 year rolling period. So it’s a bit like this is my understanding.

Is midseason league position the only relevant factor?
How about the spectacular football we’ve seen? Having players like Isak, Bruno, Gordon, Botman, Trippier? How about witnessing the resurgence of multiple players from what looked like a relegation fodder squad? The absolutely remarkable second half of the season, year before last? Finishing 4th last year. A cup final. A Champions League adventure? Recently beating  Man Utd twice, City once, Arsenal, Spurs, Villa, PSG and generally holding our own against top teams—including the two most recent Liverpool defeats? Even our biggest ever away victory might feature? We can then think where we may finish this season and what could still happen in the FA Cup? Given on our day we can beat anyone. Start to sound like a more reasonable return for the outlay to you? Plus, more than anything, the sense of having a team able to compete. An ethos, team culture and sense of camaraderie we can be proud of. I’m pretty happy with the return to be honest.

How dare yo be positive we have spent nearly £500m, sorry I mean €460m and should have done something different but fucks knows what that should have been.

This place at times, people lack critical thinking and perspective.

That was great, but remember, it was him that carelessly lost the ball in midfield that started the City move.

Yeah my first thought was you fucked up, but saved the day.
That in itself shows how much he cares for the club and respects us as fans.

FWIW I even find the discussion a bit absurd. I'm not sure if Ashley completely damaged the collective mindset of the fanbase or we're just damaged by nature and the stereotype is true, but we're talking about a manager who:

Survived serious relegation threat at a canter

Took us to the Champions League with loads of the same squad the next season, something that just doesn't happen outside of fiction.

Has us playing attacking, exciting football

Has improved every player we have without exception

Has us regularly battering teams, including the very best ones, in a style that I would call typically Keeganesque, or early Liverpool-era Klopp.

And we're at best feeling the need to talk about how he's still the man for the job and we back him because:

Let's be honest, some of our fans are mental and we don't want them or anyone like them representing the fanbase

    We're 10th

We're out of a Champions League group made up of PSG, Dortmund and AC Milan that we were cheated out of

    We've had a sticky patch

    Even though:

We've had the worst injury hit season in my lifetime, probably twice or three times over

Our big summer signing is banned

The thing that's in front of your eyes - the players blowing out of their arses and the last minute conceded goals - should all be so blindingly obvious as the big factor

We're still handing out hidings when we've been fit, had options of the bench, or been rested this season.

Like, are we fucking insane? Are you all out of your fucking minds? Howe is a gift from the gods and some are looking a gift horse in the mouth under this daft guise of 'no-one is exempt from criticism'

If Ashley and Bruce was 10 years ago I'd probably get it, the standards have been raised and the memory of those days is long gone. But it was just over 2 years ago  and in football terms we've gone from purgatorial hell marketed as heaven, to actual heaven curbed by hellish circumstances.

How do you go from stubbornly enduring one to fickley taking the other for granted in that space of time? It's remarkable.

It shouldn't even be a topic for debate, it should be a given that every one of us back him to the hilt, he's not a legend but as far as our clubs recent history he's closer than anyone.

What post, fucking nail well and truly on head.

I can see Bruno going eventually to be honest. Combination of profitability and his desires/ambition but I think it’ll be after next season.

They will all be sold as some point, I have no doubt about that.

Just don’t see the benefit of selling in the next few years as players like Bruno/Isak raise more than FFP wiggle room for the club. They raise the club’s profile on the world stage.

Getting 4th last season as great as it was, raised expectations too soon from my view point. It’s such a tight rope to walk so early in our evolution.

Even getting 7th this year will be fantastic, considering the 14 years of Ashley.

Hi mate, not sure if you’re referring to me but I was a season ticket holder during the Ashley years. I had my season ticket for 15 years and had 145 away loyalty points (of which I actually went to pretty much all of those games).

I lost my season ticket in 2019 because my wife was taken into hospital for a month and was diagnosed with PSC (the same condition that Kieron Dyer has) and now requires a liver transplant. She also went completely deaf and lost all of her balance, meaning we had a three month rehabilitation where she had to learn to walk again.

I missed a season ticket payment due to my mind being elsewhere and the club took that as me not wanting to keep my season ticket and took away my loyalty points, so I lost the lot.

I haven’t been able to get a season ticket back since.

I was banned off this forum between 2008(ish) and 2024 because someone who was banned guessed my password and started posting as me. Thankfully

I’ve been allowed back recently as I really enjoy this place.

    Is that sufficient enough reason?

Firstly I’m really sorry to hear about your wife’s struggles with illness and I hope she can get the required medical help she needs. Sending positive vibes to the pair of you.

Secondly rather shite from the club to do that to you without any form of communication, but we both expect that from Ashley.

I had gave my season ticket up in 2015, as  left the Area for work and couldn’t stomach giving Ashley my money anymore especially as the travelling would have added extra costs and time I just didn’t have and like you I doubt I will every get a season ticket again.

My comment was by no way aimed directly at anybody, just a generalisation of this thread and the people that complain about the lack of atmosphere and lack of noise from the crowd, all the while watching it on TV which never really represents the stadium.

As a fan in the stadium it difficult to be positive and create an atmosphere when you can clearly see how things are going on the pitch, but that never stops people being critical of the supporters who are luckily enough to get a  ticket.

For the most part I though we tried our best in the stands tonight all things considered.

  10. I would love to know where all the people that complain about critique the atmosphere where during the Ashley years.

Could have done with you back then.

Looking at profile active dates I’ll assume there all here because of the new owners.
