  1. wish we had the balls to go 4-4-2 with Lovenkrands and Carroll upfront.  I know were away from home, but we shouldn't always play 4-5-1 away.  It was sensible and paid off against Cardiff, but would expect us to play a more attacking formation for this one.

We should be going out to win these kind of games. I agree

For all we know it maybe the strategy for this one, keep it tight for 45 mins, then switch to 4-4-2 and hit them for the second 45 mins with Lovenkrands.  Perhaps he isn't quite fit to start.

    We will soon find out.

Smith said in interview before the match that Lovenkrands didn't train until Friday because of a knee injury obviously nowhere near fit enough to start.

  2. Jonas, Duff and Smith leave:

    Recognised* players

    Goalkeepers:     Harper, Krul

    Right-backs:     Taylor

    Centre-backs:     Taylor, Coloccini

    Left-backs:     Enrique

    Right-midfielders:     Lua Lua

Centre-midfielders:     Barton, Guthrie, Nolan, Butt, Geremi

    Left-midfielders:     No-one

    Strikers:     Carroll, Ameobi, Xisco

*Criteria - No 'unknown quantities' (youth players, basically) / players in their correct 'out and out' positions

With no manager. Taylor, Enrique, Coloccini, Barton, Krul all very possible potential departurees too.

Wonder if Ashley has actually realised we will soon have no players left?

If Duff goes I hope it means that the sale of the club is imminent because that squad is scarily short of experience.  Needs investment in every area.

  3. Considering we bought him for £6m I think it would be a good deal, and we'd get him off the wage bill.

Simply can't afford to keep going on with players on huge wages who aren't scoring 6 goals each per game, it simply doesn't make sense from a business perspective. It's not even as though we can safely say that these high earners are going to get us back into the top flight, most are dire, one good game against West Brom doesn't change anything.

TO be fair West Brom is probably the best we'll come up against in the championship

  4. Seymour Pierce, the investment bank charged with handing the sale of Newcastle United, will recommend to Mike Ashley, the club's owner, that he accepts a bid from a consortium led by Barry Moat, a prominent Tyneside businessman

So what are you guys thinking about this consortium?

I know nothing about the bloke, but that sounds too good to be true.

Same Paper said that Ashley was staying today.  They know less than us.
