This - the biggest issue I have away from home is our lack of ability to keep the ball - at home we have a style, it works, away from home we look all at sea - there are certain players we carry who aren’t good enough

There’s also been a few times where we’ve had a good break and rest and still turned up and been crap in the next game.

I actually think he would be a big nuisance coming on late in games when players are tiring, as his energetic play and harrying would cause problems.

However, if we are offered that kind of money in the summer, I think we probably have to take it.

Murphy can play the energetic back up role on RW though he is different to Miggy. I think Miggys time is up with us, great servant but time to move him on. Quality options need upgrading on that right side and have so for a while now.

  3. Dogshit performance but again when I look at a starting 11 of ours and see Krafth, Murphy, Longstaff and Burn at LB I’m pretty much expecting it to come apart at some point. Sure we can pull off the odd result like Spurs but we’re going to get found out eventually especially away from home.

We can’t be having too many games next season when all 3 are playing in those same positions next season.

  4. I was disappointed not to see Livramento start at RB and while I think Howe got it wrong in terms of how he set the team up he was let down by the players last night who were god awful in possession. Team was out thought and out fought by Palace.

Twitter is awful. I have it on the iPad but I probably only look at it once a week, absolute cesspit.

Miley's still very much in development stage, but he's actually similar to Bruno in that he can usually work his way through a press. That's what we missed in too many areas tonight. He's a long way from the finished article, but he's clearly got some ability.

I think we need a RW who can tear an arse in a defence, stretch the field and create a goal in tight games. We’re too reliant on Gordon and Isak. I suppose if Bruno stays maybe he’ll play higher up with Tonali coming back in 🤷‍♂️

If we want to dominate games and pass our way through the press, then we need good footballers all over the pitch. Livramento will definitely take us up another two levels on that score, and Hall looked decent tonight when he came on.

Please take the poor footballers out of our team Eddie. Let the likes of Gordon, Isak and Bruno shine by giving them some supply.

Longstaff assuming he stays won’t be getting the same minutes next year. Miley will be improving and we’ll have Joelinton and Tonali back. We definitely need some more creativity though

Yep, and with the current available midfield they aren’t offered much protection either

I hope Hall and Livramento start at the weekend

Agreed midfield is also an issue at the moment

Just a bad day at the office IMO.  A collective failure - hopefully there’ll be a correction at the weekend, and doubly hopefully we won’t see Burn LB Murphy RB Krafth CB

Those 3 names in those positions in a tough away match against a team in the prem doesn’t have a good look to it.

When we play well the team is the sum of it's parts, but when we don't some of those parts are nowhere good enough for this level.  Krafth, Longstaff, Murphy and Burn are exposed for the levels they actually are.

You can't carry that many average players if the team doesn't play well.

This is it essentially. Just too many average players in the squad.

  11. He’s not going anywhere in the summer. I think we have a good chance of getting top four next season which would probably keep him even longer. If we don’t however I think he’ll go next summer in 2025.

A younger but fast, strong, right sided CB and you play him with Fab moved to LCB.

Yeah we definitely need more pace at CB. The thing is I don’t doubt Botman will come back to a really high level but he’s not a speedster and he may even lack his previous pace for a bit post injury.

I find it virtually impossible to believe that genuine Man U fans can look at ETH and what he's offered up and be pleased. Surely once they put their comfort blankets down and just watch the games for what they are that he's taking them backwards? He's been dreadful for them and they've been winging it for months now, the odd moment of brilliance, the massive lucky streak and other intangibles have papered over the cracks and kept him in a job but that only lasts for so long. Keep him on and they'll plummet

My mate, a red living in Manchester has now lost patience, the form this season has clinched it. Just not enough progression, players form all over the shop, same mistakes made on the pitch and seemingly ongoing off the pitch nonsense.

I'm torn on the need for a left back. I'd like to think the performances Hall has put in the last few games he's played are signs he's starting to get up to speed and it'll be his spot to nail down next season. I wouldn't want to stunt that growth. I know Howe prefers Burn there when everyone is fit, but presumably Burn & Schar will be our CBs for at least the first part of next season, so that opens up the opportunity. Hall, Targett & Burn as our LB options (with Tino & Trippier both able to cover there too) would be fine by me I think. I wouldn't be opposed to losing Targett if we can get a little money for him and bringing in a new starter with Hall getting plenty of minutes off the bench - just feel there are bigger priorities for our meagre FFP room to be spent on.

I know it's become a meme that Hall will never play under Howe, but I think that was just Howe preferring to bed players in as we've seen before. Not easing up on that this season while we've been down to the bare bones is one of the few things I disagree with him on, but I definitely don't think he has some vendetta against the lad. Hall will get plenty of minutes next season whether that's starting or off the bench.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens with Targett in the summer. I definitely don’t see another out and out LB coming in unless Targett goes. There’s also fairly strong rumours about Kelly coming whose another CB who can play LB.

I thought we were all in agreement it was: RW, ST (Wilson replacement), LB, CB (Schar understudy brought forward because of injury), in that order.

We had meeting about this lads, you were all there

If we get all those we’ll be looking very good indeed. There’s probably an argument that we need two CBs though.

  16. A strong finish to the season with European qualification sets up a completely different summer vibe of positivity. Going to Man U and winning would be the icing on the cake. All the players are obviously aware of how badly injuries have limited potential this season. Most including Bruno will realise that with a fit squad and some additions we will have a very good team again next season. Im starting to think he’ll be here next season now.

  17. The only way Isak goes is if he agitates for a move and it seems like he’s pretty content at the moment. If we’re not in the champions league the year after next then it might be more likely he goes but that’s a way off yet.

Just don’t see the club selling him, his current form has almost priced him out of a move anyway as he’d cost an absolute fortune. 120m + Arsenal fans will no doubt assume they’ll be getting him this summer 😂 (I actually think they’ll sign Toney)

I don't think we're actually that far away from having quality and cover in most positions. It definitely feels like we're light and it has done for the last 6 months or so purely because we've consistently had at least 8 players out injured and we've had to cope. Some of the performances (individual and team) have been a bit sketchy but we're currently 6th with a nice run-in and that's despite having to rely a lot on the squad for ages.

If everyone was fit we could go Pope, Trippier, Tino, Schar, Botman, Bruno, Tonali, Joelinton, Gordon, Isak & Barnes with a bench of Dubravka, Burn, Willock, Miley, Anderson, Wilson, Lascelles, Hall, Murphy. That still leaves the likes of Longstaff, Almiron, Targett and Karius not even involved. We're not half as short as we think we are. Obviously we could get better but we're not too shabby when everyone is fit and available and there's no panic this summer. We all want to improve and that's natural but there's some serious talent at this club already - we'll be fine. The current injuries have distorted a lot of things for so long

I agree I don’t think it has to be a total overhaul. Obviously if Bruno left that would force a restructure in midfield. But assuming no big players leave and then they can ship out a few possibly like Wilson and Miggy and bring in a few in key positions we’ll be looking pretty good. Striker, a right wing option and CB depth seem like the key areas. I’d still love a really solid experienced LB to come in too.
