  1. “Newcastle have also applied to the council for planning permission to install a larger gym. Entertainingly, new signing Sandro Tonali noted in Italian that the gym at AC Milan was bigger while being shown the facilities”.

From the Athletic this morning, albeit, can’t see anything in the planning portal.

“Closing in” the same way we were with Barella. Take anything from The Telegraph with a handful of salt as their headline writers and those doing the articles are always out of synch.

Agree although corroborated by others since, including Ornstein.

Trying to keep this vague, but company I’m associated with has been approached by an intermediary (not the club) to discuss front of shirt sponsorship. Media reports that’s it been agreed would appear to be wide of the mark.

Same company also been approached for sponsorship of the training kit. Club are looking to have something in place in advance of the new season. £6-8m p.a.

Club have just sent round a survey to season ticket holders. Topics covered are a resale portal & cup schemes (committing to purchasing home games in advance).

Anyone else not got this? Not the first time and my details / communication preferences are correct.

Any sightings. Is he on the Cote D'Azure or Cote D'Whitley Bay?

So bizarrely - because I’m not in a twelve bedroom mansion with a basement swimming pool - he actually currently lives in the same street on me - couple doors down. And so, I typically see him / hear his flamboyant cars every other day. Not seen him this week.

They reported them details months ago. Any firm dates given or no more new info?

Surprised we’ve only just seen these quotes, MPIM was a month ago now, would suggest that at some stage soon we’ll likely see a [substantive?] hike in season ticket prices. But when you consider that match day revenue is still £6m lower than the £34m in the last season before Ashley’s arrival whilst others have surged, feels necessary at some level.

However, the FFP monitoring period is a moving target, so Newcastle are still subject to some restrictions and cannot spend limitless amounts. If we look at the calculation for 2022/23, this will drop the £41m profit from 2018/19, which gives them less room to manouevre.

I estimate that their maximum loss for this season to remain compliant is £63m, i.e. £10m lower than last year’s £73m. That will be a challenge, given that the club has not made any big money player sales, while the cost base will have increased for this season’s player acquisitions (and there will be a full-year impact of the January 2022 arrivals).

Plenty elsewhere in the analysis that provides encouragement that this will be achievable. But does put a bit of a slant on the Chris Wood transfer perhaps?

Can’t read as he’s become paywall sadly.

Also, it’s important to understand the accounting loss and the FFP loss are different figures.

It’s c. £4.80 a month but that features a 7 day free trial (which you could cancel if minded). I’ve signed up for a month just to read this and as a nod to the value he’s brought over the last ten years or so.

Probably doesn't help us tbh, chance is with him gone they have the new manager bounce that every team other than us seems to immediately receive upon making a change.

Appears the backroom team are staying though - in which case, suspect not a lot changes for them.

  11. One of the backroom coaching team on c. 85 minutes walked around the full perimeter of the pitch and pulled the multi-ball ball boys / girls [and the spare balls] off the surface to sit behind the advertising hoardings to try and slow things down. Every little helps.
