Fuck me lads have some confidence!

Knockaert is class. My Brighton supporting mate has been saying all year that he's the best player in the league. To get him for mega $$$ from a title-challenging rival would be incredible - akin to City going and buying Hazard
-
As long as this was planned independently of what happens with Townsend, very happy with this. We need at least 4 players cable of scoring 15+ goals this year
-
Let's wait and see what actually happens before calling him this or that

Southampton is the most stable, ambitious and attractive club outside the top 6 (+Leicester) at the moment imo
So ambitious they keep selling all their best players every year
It's just not true as well. Did they sell Mane, Wanyama last summer when Man U were sniffing?
They've sold Shaw, Lallana, Chambers, Schneiderlin, Clyne and Lovren to big clubs in the last two years, of course they're a selling club. Mane will probably go this summer. I strongly doubt Man Utd wanted Wanyama last summer
in hindsight they would have been mad to turn down any of those offers: £12mn for Chambers, ~£20mn for Lallana, £30mn+ for Shaw, £25mn for Lovren (!). They've gone out and used that money to strengthen. Are you telling me Everton would be able to resist similarly inflated prices for their players? Lukaku will probably go this summer, likewise Stones.
They are no more a selling club than anybody else outside the top 6 - look at Leicester potentially selling Vardy and Kante, and they just won the league
-
De Boer the current favourite to take over at Southampton.
Howe and Moyes in 2nd & 3rd place.
No way they'll get Moyes imo - either of the other two very believable.

Cant believe people are even questioning Arbeloa's ability
He'd have been a decent signing if we were still in the Premier League man!
Why do people have this daft idea that the Championship is of decent quality? Name a defender in that league that comes anywhere near to Arbeloa's ability. Joey Barton (around the same age) was one of the best players in that league this year.
Agreed. This bloke was defending against Bale and Ronaldo last season ffs. Now he's going to struggle against Kazenga Lua Lua?

Would take Arbeloa on a short-term contract. Experienced, clearly a very good defender, and Rafa obviously rates him (which is all I need to know).

Southampton have gone as far as they could go imo, they also consistently sell their best players and we learnt that eventually your luck on finding replacements will run out.
Everton have a stronger team & were mismanaged by Martinez, they'll do well next year.
Not sure that's right. Yes Southampton had a massive sale a couple of years ago, but in hindsight they would have been mad to turn down any of those offers:£12mn for Chambers, ~£20mn for Lallana, £30mn+ for Shaw, £25mn for Lovren (!).
Last summer didn't they resist approaches from Man U for Mane (After they sold Di Maria)? Likewise Wanyama.
I'm not sure it's fair to call them a selling club. They also have great facilities, a consistently successful academy (Walcott, Bale, Ox, Shaw, Chambers, Ward-Prowse) and are on the South Coast near London which, rightly or wrongly, many foreign players/managers would probably see as more attractive than the North West.
For me it's a sideways step. Of course, as others have said, if he has been offered a crazy transfer budget it might make more sense.

Genuine outsider question. Why do you hate Saylor? I understand he's s*** and injury prone but he's played for you for 20 years and seems to love the club?
I agree - I don't hate him. He's frustrating, yes, and don't want him anywhere need the 1st Team. But you can't 'hate' someone who clearly cares about the club and just lacks the ability to back up his passion.
-
RAFA BENITEZ, WE WANT YOU TO STAY
-
Sounds tragic and will probably have no bearing, but we all need to cheer his name like fucking crazy at the Spurs game
-

Guy made a mistake. We won, doesn't matter. He's been our most consistent performer this season. No inquest necessary - ever defender plays the odd awful back pass
-
He's been awful for 2/3 years. 2 good performances and suddenly he's a big loss..?
-
Sorry if posted before, but doesn't inspire confidence: "Always looks for the spectacular/ the hollywood pass", "Match of the Day player", "Poor attitude", "Blames others", "Hasn't improved since he arrived"
-
I assume the Saivet and (particularly) Shelvey contracts will have relegation clauses (on the part of both parties)? Shelvey surely won't sign unless he has a relegation release clause, and the club would probably want to be able to reduce his wages in the case of going down? Or have i been playing too much FM?
-
Always been a Ronaldo fan boy - and he will deservedly be remembered as a true great - but what Messi is doing is absurd. Surely there can be no debate? No player has ever scored so many for so long against such strong opposition and been the fulcrum of arguably the best club side ever.
-
Christ, nearly playing a full 11 in their proper positions? Mental. Happy to see Perez and Mitro up top too
If we don't look great going forward today, I will be so disappointed. Mitro and Perez, with Wijnaldum and Sissoko pushing forward from central areas should be mouth watering stuff. Let's see if we manage to somehow screw it up.
Totally agree with that, on paper it looks like it should work.
The left side looks pretty crap tbh. Dummett and Mbabu are out and out defenders so we'll be relying on Gini to do most of the work down that flank.
Comme d'habitude

£10m isn't too bad either. I take the Swansea fans' criticisms on board, but he can't be worse than Colback.
What are their main criticisms? His attitude?
He wants a move probably.
They're our speciality
