Who thought that? I thought he was technically more capable than Diame and Hayden, which he was, and a good grafter.
Mark Noble level tops.I'm pretty sure the consensus on here at the time was he was better than Rice or on at least on par. Might be mistaken though. Think it was around about the time we beat Man City in 2019 under Rafa.

I think by now we can see this is as good as Longstaff will become as a player. Score the odd goal and maybe once in a blue moon put in a decent game. To think we thought he was better than Declan Rice when he first came through

I can't remember the last game where we controlled the game. We've battered teams but I've not seen us control a game for a while. The two are different. Sometime our quality has seen us score for fun without actually looking fully in control like last season.
Agreed. We seem to lack a little bit coherence and we've relied a lot more on individual bits of quality this season compared to last.
-
When it works we look a good team. We need to find a way of getting that consistency back. I don't know what the answer is but it's frustrating as fuck to be decent one game and shite the next.

It is a pretty absurd comment from him and very Pardewesque.
We was playing well for 2 mins and then we was absolutely raped

Started well for 2 mins is crazy

It's impressive that he consistently manages to make the wrong decision. Every time. Whether it's when to pass, when to dribble, when to dive, timing his tackle.
Let's be fair. He's just not very good.

Blows my mind that Dummett has become a millionaire off the back of the club and that's his level. The Forest Gump of Newcastle.
-
I get some people have some doubts but he deserves no criticism today. Dummett fucked us and poor finishing. We controlled the game for the majority of it.
-
Look instantly better with pace.

Still has my backing also and I should imagine the majority of fans. But we can still call a spade a spade at times. Definitely agree it's not just injury related. I think maybe we've just been sussed out as we seem to be so tactically rigid.
-
Pedestrian yet again and when he did get involved either falls over or plays a poor ball. Honestly it's like playing with 10 men.
-
Tino is quality. Love the way he plays.

We took a battering just the other day. Why would anyone expect it to be comfortable? There are no easy games that you can just show up and win.
Sunderland being the exception.
I don't expect it to be comfortable but I'd prefer some semblance of coherent football at the very least.

Rock bottom
Well I for one wouldn't want us to perform any worse than that tonight.
-
Hopefully this is rock bottom and the only way is up because that was bordering on a comedy sketch that performance.

Why is it like groundhog day tactics man
Surely they can be more dynamic than that

This is far from the worst we have played over the years, we are not exactly Real Madrid at the minute!.
We're not even Blackburn Rovers at the minute.

We are a side that is low on confidence but for the most part in control of the game but have lost a bit of our sparkle, confident we will win this by a couple of goals in the end, just a typical cup game away from home against a lower league side.
Stop wetting the bed people.
If we can describe us being absolutely woeful as lost a bit of our sparkle then I agree.

Poor this like - Eddie needs to change this as this isn't working.
More chance of Wilson playing 38 games a season.
-
Were fucking clueless at the minute like. I'm still expecting us to grind out a result but there's very little quality out there at the minute.
-
He's looking amateurish at times like.
-
No excuse for this like. Arsenal played mid week and are running us off the park.

Fantastic effort all things considered. Special mentions to Gordon, Schar and Bruno who have hardly missed a game and obviously Isak for an incredible return.
Can't wait for next season already.
