Keep seeing arena site mentioned but wasn't it mentioned a while ago that that's a no-goer? Been sold off or something?

for fucks sake, don't apply logic

what we want to hear is move leezers terrace to the moon and build a new stadium in the mariana trench

    inform beyonce + NFL cunts

I was hoping there'd be a follow on to Smiling faces, between the wars maybe.

I'm sure there will be eventually as there's probably a lot we still don't know.

The most tragic era probably was ww1 as newcastle had a lot of players killed in france. When you think at the time Newcastle were the dominant force then (league titles and regular FA cup appearances) and probably like most teams had to start from scratch after the war.

  3. over 12 years on and a great time to revive an old thread!

It looks like development work is going on on the site of Newcastle East End's old ground at Heaton Railway junction off chillingham road, most likely new houses. Seems sad that this area has been forgotten, especially when you consider that this ground played a huge part in the formation of the club, without this venue, east end would have likely folded like West End (it was looked on as superior to St James' Park in terms of facilities, but ultimately not location)

It's a pity the land wasn't obtained by the club as it would have made a great training ground for newcastle, especially when you add his historical significance of the site.

  4. For me Callum Wilson HAS to start. he was our top scorer last season and is still vastly underrated.

I keep hearing 'isak is wasted out wide'. He's also wasted up front if we can't utilise him. Longstaff has to come back to break up that static midfield. Murphy worth a start on the right, I thought he earned his place last season

Might be wrong, but it felt like there was more structure last season. Our midfield had patterns you could identify. All 3 have looked all over the shop these past few matches.

absolutely correct. The midfield of bruno, longstaff and willock was far more balanced. Willock almost like a support striker, longstaff the engine and bruno would sit and own the centre of the pitch. the 3 at the moment are not sure what their roles are.

its the same with the front 3, gordon, isak and miggy, none of them link up well and all look like square pegs in round holes

Bruno has to be dropped like, if longstaff was to give the ball away half as much in a game he'd be slagged off

personally id like to see him in with longstaff like last season. Joelinton starting to look like a steve bruce hoofer again playing in midfield which suggests his best position is wide left of front 3....where isak played, where maxi used to play, where gordon plays and where barnes comes on to play. Nicely stocked with LWFs but no midfielder with legs or shooting ability

Do you think he would fare any better in a middle 2?

interestingly man city have ditched the 4-3-3 and now play with 2 DMs in a 4-2-3-1. I think thats the only way for bruno and tonali to play together to benefit the team. maybe even isak could play in the middle of the 3 behind wilson. However what worries me is that we are moving away from what was successful last season with just a few changes which has had an adverse effect on (not just the last 3 results) but the way we play.

they'll have to buy st james tce and leazes tce.

knock down st james tce, and incorporate leazes tce into the stadium somehow. find a new purpose for it.

it's easy to imagine the facade of leazes terrace integrated into a stand, like something like the bill struth stand at Ibrox or something from craven cottage. the only shame is that the best side of leazes terrace faces toward st james's!

Instead could you have a double tier with maybe a gap between the 2 tiers for sunlight? A complete rebuild of the lower tier extending slightly further back (unfortunately taking St james terrace) and the road behind the east stand now running underneath the new east stand maybe

could lowering the pitch be an option to increase the East stand?

I don't think it would work as there's not a lot of room around the pitch, if you go down you also need to go forwards toward the pitch, that's why it works with stadia with running tracks so you can eat up that space.

The only think you could have is a trench like what they had at joker park and introduce it as a standing area (like going back to a paddock) but then that's probably going to look a bit shit.

my first season ticket was actually in this block. not sure which row but it was the second seat from the end, I remember lee clark running down the tunnel after he scored against shef wed

  11. Just watched highlights of Inter 2-2 Newcastle and I forgot how bad these cunts actually were. The highlights alone show at least 3 clear red cards (these days for sure) for inter and then they were also chucking themselves all over the shop. Probably a game Newcastle should have won by 3 clear goals but their cunt tactics salvaged a result.

I also remember the Juventus game away which was similar, losing all respect for del piero who cheated twice and scored from both situations. Also a very dubious call for offside with a beautiful Shearer header even though Dyer was clearly heading backwards from an offside position.

Just imagining Joelinton losing his shit over that kind of shithousery

That dark blue with orange and green stripe? If it was released now it would be an instant classic for being innovative and different

it was a throw back to a Newcastle East end kit they had for one season about 130 years ago. Dunno where they got the fucking green from mind they lobbed in the mix

Has anyone else noticed how bad we are at corners lately? I took matters into my own hands to investigate. Last 19 games (since quartefinal vs Leicester at 10th of jan):

    Corners for: 127

Goals: 1 (Southamptons own goal at 30th of april making it 2-1 for us)

(There is an argument for the 1-0 goal vs West Ham at 5th of april, as the final cross came after a corner. It was still well after.)

    Corners against: 57

    Goals against: 5

West Ham, feb 4th (1-1 goal)

    Bounemouth, feb 10th (0-1 goal)

West Ham, april 5th (1-1 goal)

    Everton, april 27th (3-1 goal)

Leeds, may 13th (2-2 goal) (indirect)

This results in a 0,79% succsessrate for us (1 in 127), while conceding in 8,77% of the corners against us (5 in 57). This means that in our last 19 games the corners against have been 11 times more lethal than our own corners..

the man utd goal (wilson) was almost as good as a corner but I think they'd taken off their CBs

For a team thats got botman, burn, schar, joelinton, that record is horrendous. But I suppose the likes of shearer, ferdinand and speed proved its not all about height, all a bit shy of 6 foot and absolutely lethal in the air

I know there was problems with supply but the quality has been good.

remember adidas give us some glorious ones but they also give us this monstrosity amongst others

Sooooo, I've been onto the Land Registry website this afternoon and decided to have another look.

Yesterday, a Solicitor acting for 'Newcastle United Football Club Projects Limited' submitted their priority search (basically means you have priority over any other applications that might be subsequently submitted), which you usually submit just before you're about to submit your application to update the title etc.

Nothing ground breaking, but those searches were submitted against the land in green, so looks like that's what the club has indeed bought back
